Having always been at the heart of Valley life, the 17th century Shibden Mill Inn was originally a corn and spinning mill, before being converted into a country pub in 1890.

Today’s visitors are welcomed with warm hospitality to enjoy first class dining against an inviting backdrop of open fires, low beamed ceilings and a cosy bar. Eleven individually styled bedrooms make comfortable and luxurious retreats, epitomising boutique country style and featuring lots of thoughtful touches.

And if you can drag yourself away from the Inn, there are wonderful walks from the doorstep and world class attractions within easy reach. For a spot of retail therapy or a cultural fix, Halifax is a 10-minute drive and Leeds is just 30 minutes away.

Usually have a great time, but was disappointed with the roast on Mothers Day. The beef was a tiny portion and very fatty. It was asked for pink, but came partially burnt at one end and very dry and tough. No carrots - just about 8 green beans and tasteless red cabbage. Hoping it was just because it was a busy day. The service was great however and a lovely venue.

We came to Shibden Mill Inn for the "Let the Chefs Impress" night, and it did not disappoint. Every course was thoughtful and delicious. Our favourite was the Monkfish with Clams and Sake, which had so much flavour, it was divine. We also enjoyed the wine pairing, with well-matched and some unusual wines that I would not necessarily have chosen if ordering, but really enjoyed and would definitely order again. It was a real treat and I'd definitely come to another of these special tasting nights.

I cannot recommend Shibden Mill highly enough. Not only was the food high quality, the customer service received was outstanding. Staff were attentive and considerate, a credit to the restaurant. A brilliant experience

First time visiting Shibden Mill for a Sunday roast and wow what can I say, one of the best I’ve tried! The food and service was just brilliant and I couldn’t fault anything. Definitely worth a visit!

My wife and I were here for Sunday lunch. We were seated at a horrible, cramped little table on the verge of a main passageway .The service was good but the waiting staff weren’t exactly chatty. Our starters were delicious, we both thoroughly enjoyed them. Our main meal was very disappointing. The roast beef and gravy were pretty average and not very tasty (the gravy tasted like it wasn’t homemade with meat juices). The roast potatoes weren’t crispy, cauliflower cheese was undercooked and very little sauce, Yorkshire puddings were crispy but bordering on burnt. We had a superb roast dinner here 2 years ago in April 2023 and were looking forward to returning as we were staying in the area again, but quite disappointed on this occasion. The Shibden Mill Inn gets very consistent, highly rated reviews , but after October/November 2023 that seems to change. I don’t know what’s changed but the meal we had in 2023 (A Sunday Lunch) did not compare in any way withe the Sunday lunch we had on the 23/03/2025. We decided against a desert. I’m sure the restaurant manager will be saying why didn’t we complain! My wife and I do not like situations like that! Sorry Shibden Mill Inn but something has changed in your management or strategy or kitchen management.

We ate here today to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. It's our favourite restaurant by a country mile and only 25 minutes drive from home. Our welcome and our allocated table by the window on a gloriously sunny day was perfect. The menus were wide ranging and had something to suit most tastes. As an avid watcher of the Great British Menu I felt as though I was eating in the judges' chamber as all our food was exquisite with unusual and interesting combinations of ingredients. Everything was so delicious and perfectly cooked. The pairing of wines and recommended aperitifs were great ideas and all those we chose complimented the food very well. We had the best lunch and will certainly visit again. With many thanks to all involved in making the day so special for us.
