Located in Historic City Point, New Haven, Connecticut, Shell and Bones Oyster Bar & Grill occupies a space that has been a legendary restaurant location for decades. Daniel Kay along with partners Marc Knight and Robert Bolduc (of Geronimo Bar & Grill) completely remodeled the restaurant. Its design pays homage to the areas nautical history while offering a light and airy space with clean lines, amazing water views, ocean breezes and a fireplace for those chilly nights.
To complete the package the trio has brought in award-winning Executive Chef Arturo Franco Camacho (Franco). Franco is a veteran of the CT food scene whose extensive repertoire spans from Chef de Cuisine on the QE2 to opening several of his own successful restaurants (Roomba, Bespoke and Suburban).
At Shell & Bones the focus is on seafood and steak utilizing fresh & sustainable ingredients. We have both indoor and outdoor dining (weather permitting) and can accommodate private parties and corporate events.

One of the best seafood restaurants in the state! The oysters were super fresh and so good. I had the lobster salad, which was almost too pretty to eat. My daughter had the clams linguini and did not leave a single bite untouched and my son had the New York strip which was cooked perfectly and was juicy and divine! Highly recommend!

Unfortunately, your outdoor ‘heated’ area was not that well heated. My husband and I had to wear out jackets throughout dinner. That was the only area available which surprised us how a restaurant can seat people in an area that clearly was cold and drafty. Also we were confused to see various empty tables for 2 inside that were not being used while we were there. We will know not to make a reservation in the future in this ‘heated’ area at this time of year ever again!

Food was excellent, service friendly and satisfactory, despite a very busy restaurant. Reserve well in advance to get the time slot you want. We had to settle for 5pm on a Saturday when calling that same morning. It’s a pleasant setting, with water and sunset view, though the patio area was cold and though we were seated inside the cold air was coming in. It’s pricey but the quality of the food justifies it. 4 people and we spent $289 plus tip; but about 60 of that was drinks. The scallops were large and tender, the rare tuna fresh and well prepared, and there were some nicely done pasta dishes for the vegetarians. We’ve been before and will be happy to go again when we want a special night out.

We celebrated my son’s 22nd birthday there for dinner. Our waitress Christie was awesome dealing with 12 of us. Starting from the drinks, appetizers and to our main course, everything came to our table in a timely fashion. Everything was great!

Friendly service and wonderful atmosphere! The New England clam chowder was the best. Btw, the bar does an amazing job on “ duck and cover” and their signature Bloody Mary!
