We had Sunday dinner with friends. Everyone enjoyed the Sunday special appetizer (branzino fish cakes in a tomato & mushroom broth). We had a variety of mains—the boar, the lamb, & the day’s special of wagyu beef w/crab. All were delicious. Desserts were amazing. Our server was pleasant and helpful. Located only a block or 2 from the Lensic, so a perfect option for pre-evening performance or a post-matinee dinner.

This was a VERY slow Sunday afternoon (5:30 reservation) with very few patrons. The service was great and the food was good also. It was not as cozy as some other, though. The prices are fairly high, especially for the wine.

We are at Sassella last week for my husband’s birthday. The food was very good and the service was great. The prices and atmosphere not so much. First of all the dining room was quite chilly due to a door in the room opening directly into the dining room. Many of the patrons were wearing their jackets. This doesn’t seem acceptable in a place this expensive or really anyplace. If they can’t keep people for using that door perhaps it should be locked or an insulating curtain put up. There are several other entrance doors. On top of that the dining room is painted a very cold colored blue grey which makes it feel colder and they had LED lighting instead of candles. More practical but colder lighting. Please repaint. The bar has better decor. Our main dishes cost $48 and $50 and my salad $28. Most of the wines were over $100. My husband ordered a Chianti Classico reserve. He doesn’t remember how much it was on the list but they brought a different vintage than what was on the list and they charged us $180. This wine is $140 on their online menu with a different vintage yet. I’m not sure if they added $40 extra for the substitution or not. We got a 2021 instead of 2018. This wine seems to go between $30 and $50 retail for various vintages but I can’t find a price for the 21. I think either the 16 or 18, can’t remember which, retails in Santa Fe for $29 so big markup. Maybe this place would be better in the summer and I might skip the wine next time.

My husband and I went to Sasella to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary. Our server was Miguel, and he was fantastic. He made excellent recommendations on both the food and the wine. For our appetizer, we ordered a sea bass fish cake in a tomato soup base. Then, we had lobster risotto with a pesto sauce. For our main course, we had a wagyu steak in a sauteed bed of arugula. For dessert, we ordered the triple-layer almond amaretto cake. Everything was divine! I can't recommend Sasella enough. We will definitely return!

Terribly disappointing… When you walk in the front door, there’s a heavy sewer smell that you can smell throughout the restaurant. Freezing cold inside the restaurant. We arrived early at 5:15 PM when there were only 3 other tables seated in the restaurant. The server didn’t approach our table until after 20 minutes. First course after 40 minutes. We were not offered a list of specials the way other customers were. Food was excellent. Prices are VERY high especially given the offensive odor and the slow service.. $25 glass of wine $25 salad $40 entrees… can’t believe we spent over $100 per person for this bad experience… Hostess was doused in perfume. We just left the restaurant and our clothes reek of sewer. We’ve traveled the world and this is the worst fine dining experience we’ve ever had.
