Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent.


The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

    It’s always a treat. The Friday Jazz Lunch was very nice. Per usual the service & ambience are top notch. I recommend sharing the career salad, calamari & mozzarella sticks. The pastas are fresh, go simple with the Caciao de Pepe 🤌🏽 wrap it up with a NY cheesecake.

    Great experience from start to finish! When I made the reservation, only outdoor tables were available so I left a comment requesting to be moved inside if anything opened up - and immediately on checking in, the hostess offered a table inside. The decor is classic and welcoming. Drinks were brought almost immediately after ordering them. Enough staff that someone was always attending to us. Food was delicious, especially the cacio e pepe. Highly recommend

    Love Sammie's! The ambiance and vibe is so spot on. We sat outside on a chilly evening but the heaters were on and it was such a pleasant dinner. The food was great but the cesar salad and mussels/clam appetizer were standouts. They nailed my dirty martini and the house Manhattan was fantastic. Such a great little gem of a restaurant!

    Food was incredible as always! The staff is awesome! Grace is a phenomenal waitress and Rudy is a great Maître d! Ps… get the steak with the new cowboy butter!

    Nothing I would change about my experience here! Top notch Italian food, great service, romantic ambiance. Great experience and will be back! Best Cesar salad I’ve ever had (never thought I’d be saying that, that’s how fantastic it was) and the pasta… best spaghetti I’ve had in America.

    We travel a lot and if your in austin maybe just skip Italian our local pizza places in PA have better chicken parm. Its loud expensive and overall not good. They also charge you $6 to change to the red sauce.

    Front patio seating was very nice and food was amazing. Service was also amazing. Not sure what it would be like sitting inside, but the patio in November is a must for a romantic dinner. Great part of town and valet available.

    This was our 1st time here and I'll I can say is WOW!!!! This was the greatest experience on all levels. The food had so much flavor, the portions were epic, the service was fantastic, and the vibe was great. Thank you so much for making my wife's bday epic. It was worth the wait and I will continue to make this a go to for a special meal.
