The avocado and tomato Benedict had sundried tomatoes, which I dislike, would not have ordered had I known. Potatoes were not great. Service was very good

Hi Elaine, I’m genuinely sorry to hear about your disappointment with the Avocado benedict. It’s disheartening to learn we missed the mark so significantly for you. This is not the experience we want anyone to have. I’ve passed your comments along to our Chef to look into immediately, because we’re committed to getting this right. We’d love the chance to make this up to you. If you’re willing, please reach out to us directly so we can invite you back for a meal on us. Sincerely, Susan Salt & Iron

It was good! The seafood chowder was DELICIOUS! 3 of us had a filet, and while they were cooked perfectly, we all said the same thing…too much salt. Quite a bit of pepper too, couldn’t taste any other spices. Oh, and unless you like fries, order something other than ‘frites’. They were actually quite good (and a lot of them), but not what I would expect to have with a nice steak. Next time we’ll ask for a different potato. The steak tartar was a little disappointing too, I’ve had better. It was served with some kind of hard bread that took away from what flavor the meat had. When I made the reservation (via OpenTable) I noted that it was for our anniversary, and that we wanted a quiet table if possible. There was no mention of the special day, and we were put at a table in the middle of the room. In all fairness, they were busy, and maybe that was the best they could do, but it would have been nice to have someone say ‘happy anniversary’, or maybe a free dessert or something. In spite of everything, it was a good experience, and we’ll be back with a better knowledge of what/how to order….

Had an excellent dinner here recently. Was a first dates, asked for a table with a bit of privacy and got one. Ate in the side room, quiet and very pretty. We split the Brussels & pepper app, she had a risotto and I had steak frites with a petit filet. Everything was great. Ice cream and coffee to finish. Salt & Iron is consistent, service is friendly but professional.
