About ROKA

The name ROKA carries great meaning - ROKA is a meeting place where food and drinks are shared with friends (ro) and heat, warmth and an all-embracing energy surround (ka). The principle cuisine is from the robata grill, which originates from the fishermen of the northern coastal waters off japan, who would cook the fish on the boats with different charcoals and share the bounty with one another using their oars.

ROKA charlotte street opened in 2004, ROKA canary wharf in 2009, ROKA mayfair in february 2014 and ROKA aldwych in october 2014.

Honestly, we heard this place was only good because of the location and the ambiance, so we could have known. But upon arrival the host had just wait quite a while in the middle of the restaurant leaving us feeling very awkward although other staff did come up to us to ask if we needed assistance. Then we were placed at the corner of the counter where they cramped two covers into one, right next to the dishwashing room. Very unpleased. When I went to the hostess to communicate our discernment, she started a discussion about it. Honestly, bad attitude. Not solution minded. Not service oriented. Nothing nice about the whole 15 minutes we were being tossed around the facility. All good. Just didnt want to spend big buck feeling like we were pushed away in a corner and the staff not valuing our experience about it. So we got offered to leave. Dont know how we could have prevented this as we booked this place a week in advance for our little London trip. Very underwhelming to say the least x

The food at this restaurant was excellent—every dish was flavorful and perfectly prepared! What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional service. Due to a delay in the last plate we ordered, the staff took it upon themselves not to charge us for it, acknowledging our patience without us even mentioning it. The waitress kindly said, “You waited long enough, so we won’t charge for this.” Such thoughtful and proactive customer service is rare and highly appreciated. Highly recommend dining here!

Restaurante con muy buen servicio, bonita ambientación, delicioso cada platillo que pedimos, probamos el maki de wagyu, uno de salmón y uno con camarón y todos deliciosos, igual los nigiris y lo que nos hizo volver definitivamente fue el creme Brulee que tienen, espectacular!

The tasting menu - food ingredients are very ordinary, nothing special nor seasonal. A little disappointed given that the price per person is £88. In my opinion, it is the service and ambience that made this place special.

Celebrated a bday on Wednesday night. premium tasting menu with sake and beer and wagyu beef addition. Incredible service by Sarah. Food amazing as always with roka.
