A wait if 70 mins for our meal to arrive was not satisfactory. At no point did any servers come and explain the delay. I asked one server who said they were busy . Another when I stopped them did go and find out but said he hoped it would be within 5-10 minutes. The bill arrived within 2 minutes

My husband and I booked a table for two on Sunday afternoon as I'd always wanted to try Roast. The food was nice and the setting was nice, but the staff simply couldn't cope with the number of tables, it felt like they had packed way too many tables into the restaurant. Our table was wobbly and beside a very narrow path for guests and staff to move through. We waited about 25 minutes but nobody came to take our order, or check in on us, once we had managed to order, we then waited an hour for our main courses to arrive, when we mentioned that we had been waiting quite a while, the staff told us that the kitchen was very busy. When our food came the team acknowledged that we had waited for quite a long time and offered us another glass of wine to say sorry, but the bill still totalled £170. All in all, it just wasn't worth the money and resulted in a disappointing experience. Wouldn't recommend.

The food was once again lovely. Sadly the high level of customer focussed service and resulting relaxed culinary experience previously experienced at Roast and expected at a high end restaurant seems to have been replaced by a focus on customer throughput which left us disappointed and unlikely to return to this venue.

Cannot fault the food, great taste and generous portion size. We had multiple different waiters throughout the meal but it was incredibly busy so understand why it’s not possible to have a dedicated server. Worth the price for a special occasion

Nice atmosphere and setting Very average food especially for the money to be honest … We thought the presentation was mediocre and not done with any finesse Staff were uninspiring and did not make the stay welcoming.. Would not bother

The staff were miserable, didn’t ask us if food was good. Not a lot of atmosphere, and surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night. The chips were meant to be triple cooked but they were the cheapest chips you can find in any old pub grub. We have steak and it was delicious, but presentation was poor and for the cost didn’t stand out. I removed the service charge because there was no effort on service and the guy didn’t even ask why. Really disappointing, won’t recommend or return.

Went for the set menu, the whole experience was fantastic. Its was a slow service but we wasn’t in a rush and planned the evening to allow this. So it was stress free. Lovely food, beautifully presented and drinks were lovely. We dinned early but it started to get busy by 7:30. A really nice treat.

Fantastic food - service was great and a table by the window overlooking Borough Market was a nice touch / plus the South African Shiraz was a perfect pairing for the Steak - and the Scotch Egg is a must!!!

We went for a full breakfast on a Friday morning - it was very quiet. We were quickly asked what we'd like to drink, but then waited for a while before the breakfast order was taken while the staff laid tables for lunch. We weren't in a hurry, but it was a little lackadaisical. The food arrived disconcertingly quickly - the meat products were excellent, especially the black pudding, but the 'bubble' was luke warm, a bit dry - as if it had been under lights for a while - and included small pieces of carrot and peas, not the traditional cabbage, sadly, making it look a little like it had been eaten once already. A large, plump fat mushroom, two perfectly poached eggs and a tiny portion of beans (more than enough in my view) made up for it. Toast is extra, but the full breakfast came with a half slice of fried bread, so it's not really necessary. Tea is expensive, but plentiful, and I'm told the coffee was good. It's not a cheap place to stop, but it's relaxed, decent quality and in a great location - especially if you get a window seat.
