This is simply one of the best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. We celebrated a birthday the last time I was there and the restaurant was completely empty. We’ve been going to this restaurant since we stayed coming to PV for about 20 years now. First, the food is excellent. All four of us loved the shrimp starter and our entrees. The wine list was well-curated. Desserts were delicious. And our waiter, Antonio was friendly and attentive. But I couldn’t help thinking, “Where is everybody?” Hey Everybody, Want a great night out? Head to the River Cafe!

Another great experience! We discovered River Cafe a few years ago on a trip to Puerto Vallarta. We love it so much that each time we come here, we make at least one visit during the trip. Tonight’s dinner was, once again, outstanding. The salmon with two different pesto sauces was full of flavor and enjoyable to eat. But when it came to dessert, we once again had to have the bananas flambé. It’s not just the flavor that has us ordering this every time, but it’s all about the presentation. Bernard was such a great server and put on a great show preparing our dessert. His humor made us feel like we were old friends. There was live music tonight, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. I just wonder why this place wasn’t packed. We sat outside by the river which provided great ambiance. I can only imagine people prefer dining on the beach, but dining on the river was a great change providing a great overall experience. I told Bernard and the maitre’d to expect us when return to Puerto Vallarta. This is a true hidden gem.
