   I really enjoyed Rickerby Retreat and found the food and drink to be of high quality. Burgers and Falafel Wraps we’re key winners here - both very fresh, juicy and delicious. The ambience is very pleasant too and lovely views of the park but can get cooler on the terrace at a night and a little spooky with limited lighting. Service is acceptable - lacks personalisation and took a little while at times but still not terrible. Value was okay too.

   Yorkshire pudding wrap is delicious. Bramble cocktail really well made.

   Disappointed to be honest, no complaints on previous visits, however on this occasion, the sandwichs which are supposed to be "finger" sandwiches were huge and dry , the scones were bought in and hard , the preserve wasn't even in a bowl , just two catering packets .We had to ask for tea and were given one small pot between two people. There was no choice of tea offered , just standard. Then to top it all off our champagne bottle was plonked on the table without the offer of an ice bucket or anything to keep it cold , not impressed at all .

   We booked a table for 4pm- this was a special occasion as my best friend is getting married this weekend. I booked 4pm - the reservation clearly stated food & drink. We got there ordered food and a bottle of wine, they came and both were amazing. But to our utter shock the servicer came over at 4:30 (after just getting our food) to tell us they closed in half an hour. I told him that I was never told this and it is completely impossible to eat and drink everything within an hour!!!! It really put a whole downer on the experience. I had to quickly book somewhere else for a couple of drinks afterwards! It is completely unacceptable to give us 1 hour and not tell us this!! The servicer then at 4:45 proceeded to put the bill on the table! It is not the level of service i expected from this establishment and quite frankly embarrassing! Not happy at all

   Food was nice , the staff were absolutely great, very attentive and had actually read my request for a quiet table . My only negative comment would be , I wasn't able to have afternoon tea as I hadn't pre booked it . This was not mentioned during booking .

    Such a shame. Rickerby Retreat has tye potential to be really good. The food was decent enough but the service was terrible. Very, very slow. Disinterested. Took some time for drinks and even longer order our food. Wanted deserts but after waiting 30 mins after getting the menu we decided to leave. Voiced our feedback politely and met with a total brush off from the staff and told that we were wrong to complain. Will not be going back!
