Delicious food. Service a bit hit and miss at times. Asked to share a wine flight as we had to go back to work but were charged for 2. Very expensive wines by the glass.

We really enjoyed St Bart’s. The focus on British ingredients was interesting to learn about. Lovely wine pairing. Really enjoyed the snacks in the lounge area before moving to eat and the service was really great, relaxed but attentive. I would certainly go there again.

Barts Square is an attractive restaurant with good service and a clear policy of using only British ingredients. It has a Michelin star and that's the standard for judging it. Dinner is only available at £160 (vs £120 for a nearby 1* restaurant that also has a lower cost a la carte option) The wine menu appears top be set at c. 4x market price: my expectation is that 1 * restaurant prices would normally be closer to 3x. So it's a pricey restaurant and that sets a demanding level of achievement for the team. The food is good but doesn't live up to the 1* or the price. There's cleverness and lots of effort but the output is mixed. An oyster starter, for example, was not as good as fresh oysters would have been. The best dish was a 'non - chocolate' chocolate desert (no cocoa beans grown in the UK). The imagination is admirable and produced a balanced tasty pud - but even that didn't reach 'wow' factor level. So the overall judgment is interesting, comfortable and pricey (for its level: and there are many better restaurants in the area.

Overall we had a very nice time, however that time was very long: over 3.5h total, including an hour sat in the bar having the bites. The food was great, although the squid, crab and lobster dishes in a row were all a bit too rich on the palate for me. The service was excellent, including the guidance on choosing wine. A nice experience but for the cost and the time I am not sure I would go again.

Simply wonderful. The food is sensational. The ambience is quiet, relaxed and very friendly. Only around 8 tables with an incredible view over the oldest church and houses in London. A fabulous treat.
