About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for fine wines
  • Great for creative cocktails
A steakhouse: city vibe, local heart. Our menu is hand selected to feature locally and ethically sourced ingredients. Our head chef and owner Jason Carron has revolutionized the New England restaurant community for two decades. With his acute attention to detail, Carron has helped struggling restaurants find their purpose and passion, restoring their place in the industry. Having given hope to hundreds of restaurants over the years, Carron is opening his first steakhouse this spring, bringing that same level of attention to his own restaurant. Every ingredient is well thought out to innovate the plate with not only something aesthetically pleasing, but more importantly delicious. His farm to table approach, ensures the highest level of ingredients go into every meal you enjoy.

A very good use of the old post office in the center of Reading; really well preserved and an interesting use of the old space. The food is always good and generous portions. We shared the Post 17 salad with poached pears and fried goat cheese….excellent. The crab cakes with lobster sauce were plenty for one person and very flavorful and the truffled cauliflower with a siracha sauce was a nice way to eat a vegetable! I’ve been there before and will go again.

Absolutely Perfect! I always say I am going to write a review and never seem to find the time but our dinner at Post 1917 was so amazing I couldn't not write one. I travel a lot for business and have been fortunate to eat in some incredible restaurants on many continents so when I go out to dinner for fun, I expect a lot (though always polite to wait staff as I know it isn't an easy job). Post 1917 delivered perfection and then some. This perfect night and dinner started with welcome greeting and two comfortable seats at the bar that weren't on top of each other like many crowded bars I have been to. Our server, Allie (sp?), was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. She gave us great suggestions and had the right balance of checking in on us and not rushing us, but we never had to wait to find her or another colleague if we needed anything. I don't know where they found the team that works here but they are so well trained. Everything we ordered from shareables/starters to our main course to our dessert was amazing. I don't eat red meat but did take a bite of my husbands' bone-in ribeye and if every steak tasted like that, I might start eating beef again. The portions were good size, and we had lots of leftovers which tasted as good, if not better, the next day. There were so many great options on the menu we can't wait to go back again and try them all. Thanks for a birthday dinner I will long remember. See you again soon.

Beautiful decor. Drinks were good—Amalfi sky was great. Food was not great and not even anywhere near the expectation given prices and menu descriptions. We had oysters that were shucked and every one left shell pieces in our mouths. Sauces were nothing to write home about. King crab legs were dry. Filets were bland unseasoned and sauce served with it was like a basic flavorless gravy. Baked stuffed lobster tail was salty and tough. Mashed potatoes and truffle fries were delicious. $640 tab with tip and truly would’ve preferred going to Outback or cooking our own lobsters and filets.

We attended the Jean-Charles Boisset wine dinner and it was AMAZING!!! We’ve been to the previous three, since we’re regulars at Post 1917, and this one far exceeded our expectations! The food was super creative and delicious, and the wine pairings (yes, plural-two wines with each course, one French and one American) were superb. We even made some new friends at our table. Just WOW!! Can’t wait for the next one!

Food was great but we’d go back for the service alone. Our waitress was fantastic
