I need to preface this review, by stating that at the time, Marriott has just endured an 80 days strike by staff, so this does need to be borne in mind. The positives: The moment of greeting by the door host: excellent and got me to my seat really fast. The food, itself, was truly well prepared and plentiful. I couldn't eat everything and that says something. The service, when it happens, is really attentive. The negatives: The place is dusty, seriously dusty. I don't blame the cleaning staff for this, they've been on strike. I blame management who haven't been coming in with a critical eye and seeing what customers see, and taking action, as they should. At the Palace Hotel, I expect that from management. The floor itself is seriously understaffed. There were possibly two (but I suspect) one floor staff and he was run off his feet. This could easily have done with another server. No one checked the menus before service, because I was served with a menu with the main page missing. When I pointed this out, the menu was removed but never replaced, so I had to borrow my partner's menu to read what was available. There is no option available for non alcoholic beverages. Nothing in either the menu or the wine list offers this. When I asked the waiter about this, he went, checked, came back and forgot the ingredients in the one only non alcoholic drink. I had the feeling I may well have been the first customer to ask this. I'm surprised, these days. My party was not offered dessert. We finished our mains, at which point our check arrived. Subtle, this was not. Overall, I'm disappointed. The Pied Piper is part of the Palace Hotel. It's standards should be above and beyond. This was neither above and certainly nowhere near approaching beyond.

The Thanksgiving price fixe meal for $160 was nothing short of awful. The turkey was in the form of pressed meat in a crescent shape, it along with whatever was supposedly stuffing and gravy reminded me of opening a can of dog food it was tasteless and looked like a mess on the plate. The turkey came with 5 green beans next to a disgusting blob of cold mashed potatoes and 3 small pieces of sweet potatoes. The appetizers and dessert were lackluster nothing to write home about. Overall it was simply disgusting. I would not recommend eating at the Pied Piper the meal was overpriced. The chef should return to culinary school.

The service was really bad! Shocking for a nice hotel but it may be due to the ongoing strike. The server had no idea about the menu, very nervous and got our order wrong. Instead of tomato soup, we got French onion soup! The food was ok but took a long time to arrive, with the appetizers and entrees arriving at the same time! Ugh!

This was the first time my colleagues had dined there and it was for a special occasion. The service was exceptional! Thanks for making this a positive memory
