Great service and lovely food and wine. Perhaps a little loud for us, but still enjoyable

Delicious seasonal food cooked well without unnecessary fancy nonsense. Service is warm and professional. Smart but not stiffling or up itself.

The service was pretty poor, we were only given one food menu to begin with, the wine took a long time to be served, the bread we asked for never turned up. Food was mediocre and bland. Then all our mains were double up on our bill. All in all a very disappointing experience.

Lovely room, spoilt by very poor acoustics (this was our second visit, and the first was similar). It's a struggle to hear other people on the same table because everyone is speaking loudly because the noise level is so high. Food is good, but you feel that it's the chef's choice rather than yours. We both felt that there was really only one dish on the menu that appealed, but it was good when it came.

This is my favourite restaurant in Oxford, a real gem which never fails to delight and make you feel life is looking up, even when it might not be ! The portrait in the Gents of Modest Mussorgsky is brilliant. Instantly recognisable and so displays the power of music. A supremely talented composer, who died young of an excess of drink; something I’ve been trying to avoid myself! Now to return from the Gents to the restaurant , the service is impeccable, the food just great and the wine list delightful. I am rarely moved to write reviews but this place is great. In the summer you sit in the walled garden , in the winter inside in just lovely surroundings. I even bought the hand cream !

Thank you for such a heartwarming review! We’re so thrilled to be your favorite spot in Oxford, and it’s wonderful to hear that we can bring a bit of brightness to your day. We agree, the portrait of Mussorgsky is a standout—what a talented composer! It’s fantastic to know that you appreciate the atmosphere, service, food, and wine list. We’re also glad you enjoyed the hand cream! Your kind words truly mean a lot to us, and we can’t wait to welcome you back for another memorable experience, whether in the garden or by the cosy winter dining room. See you soon! -Dorian, Restaurant Manager

The indoor dining room of the Parsonage is a great place to eat in the winter. Very cosy, with great art. The food is not outstanding but it is reliably very good and the service is efficient and friendly. Prices are reasonable. Strongly recommend.

This restaurant is getting rather expensive for both food and wine. The menu increasingly avoids red meat options (the only red meat option was a single steak option).

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We appreciate your feedback on pricing and menu variety, and we’ll consider offering more red meat options to better cater to diverse preferences. -Sam, Restaurant Manager
