   It was New Year’s Eve and we’d expected a much more fun experience. Sadly not the case. We were made to feel like we needed to hurry by choosing our menu and drinks together and quickly as they were busy. The starter was bland and not very fresh. Pizza was average. Service was questionable and the waiter seemed to be in a bad mood. Maybe this place might be good for a quick lunch whilst out shopping but definitely not a nice meal in the evening. Disappointing.

   Very authentic Italian cooking, party of 9 enjoyed our meals, from the homemade lasagna to the Carbonara were delicious. Burata was fresh and creamy. Highly recommend Pappa Carlos if you are looking Italian in Amsterdam.

   The only restaurant I found open with room for us. The food wasn’t bad at all but is not good however the men that was attending us had the worst attitude very unprofessional we felt really uncomfortable with him but again it was the only place that we found for dinner

   In a city known for its narrow buildings, I’m not sure how many restaurants could take a party of 10 with just 30 minute’s notice, but Papa Carlo was more than accommodating. Service was friendly and frankly outstanding. And my tired trade show team was made very comfortable, happy and full.

   I ordered a spritz from the drink menu and Papa Carlo brought out a carafe. I told him that I only wanted one drink not a carafe and he said that I should have clarified and because he already made it, I had to pay for it. Mind you, my husband ordered a beer, my daughter ordered a a Lipton tea and my son ordered water so we all ordered a single drink so there is no way that I was meaning a carafe. Plus, you could not taste any alcohol so I basically paid 30 euros for kool-aid and did not even drink it. When we ordered the drinks, we also ordered appetizers so we left afterwards and went somewhere else.

   From our arrival thru our goodbyes, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at this cozy place. We arrived earlier than planned and were able to be seated right away. They were happy to adjust our reservation. Strawberry mojito was spot on. Hubby had the 1 liter beer, of course with the Papa Carlo pizza. I opted for the spinach cheese ravioli. The antipasto at the next table was huge and looked amazing. Service was excellent and the staff were friendly. Would definitely dine here again. Short stroll from the metro and the red light district as well.

    Rude waitress who mistreated multiple tables and delayed orders. Ultimately they took her off the floor but the damage was done. Seemed like something else was going on. I hope she is ok
