Had a good experience this afternoon at Palace Cafe. We ordered our appetizers and entrees at the same time. It took a bit longer than expected for the appetizers to be served. Had to ask for a refill of 1 water glass. I usually expect the server to keep any eye on that and offer to refill. Had the pecan-encrusted Catfish for my entree. It was excellent. Overall, had a very nice lunch.

We enjoyed the Palace Cafe! The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. Undoubtably the reason it’s a New Orleans favorite!

Service was average at best. She was fine. Just took to long to get started. Food was good but nothing that I could have paid less money for. Was not impressed. Next time I’m in New Orleans I will try something different. Not saying it was bad. Just not what I expected.

Overall, a somewhat disappointing experience. I was so looking forward to the Chicory Old Fashioned and it is no longer available. The Filet Steak Frites was sad; filet was prepared well but came with very little of the homemade steak sauce and cold, limp frites (and on a messy plate). However, the House Brined Pork Chop was wonderful as was the Charcuterie et Fromage board Service was marginal at best.

Colby was very pleasant and accommodating as he answered questions about the menu. I took his recommendation and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The after-dinner Bananas Foster was sublime. Wonderful atmosphere, will be back on my next trip to New Orleans.

So happy to have found Palace Cafe in our first visit to New Orleans! The atmosphere was very sophisticated yet casual! Our meal was amazing! The gumbo as well as the pecan crusted catfish was incredible! Our server Kay was friendly, professional and an absolute delight!! 10/10 !

Our server did not seem to speak English or answer our questions and she was exceptionally slow. We almost missed the performance at Preservation Hall we had tickets for. She was very nice so maybe she just needs more training.
