Wonderful place for dinner with the family, for my daughters birthday. Service was great, Had the cauliflower bites that were a tasty starter. Table had the house filet x2, cooked to perfection, chicken and gnocchi, great flavor, and the smash burger, no complaints. Everyone is filled and happy.

Great staff all around. Our server was great! She killed it. The food was exactly what I expected well seasoned and cooked perfectly. We had the market fresh steak from the Charm Farm and you could tell it was fresh locally sourced meat. My wife had the 8 oz fillet and it was also cooked perfectly and tasted great. The Appalachian spring rolls were an amazing starter. Crispy and flavorful with a dipping sauce that accented them very well. Do recommend and will be going back.

Have dined at the Oxley House about a dozen times and the food has always been very good. The Shrimp Cocktail were large, firm and cold with a nice cocktail sauce. The Ham and Bean Soup and the Flatbread Pizza (Cappicola, Sausage & Pepperoni) were very good, highly recommend both (no indigestion from the pizza). However, I would prefer they use Hormel’s Rosa Grande Pepperoni and slice it into 1/8” thick quarters. I actually prefer their Margarita Flatbread.

We celebrated with our family for a 20th wedding anniversary at our new favorite restaurant in Elkins, The Oxley House. Service was a bit slow however the restaurant was very busy because of an earlier Halloween party.

The maitre’d was cold and dismissive to my wife when she asked for a table change due ceiling vent blowing cold air toward her back.

We were celebrating our 36th anniversary. We were seated directly beside another couple even though our section was completely empty. Aside from that couple. Tables are approximately 18 inches apart making it slightly snug getting in between the tables to your seat. Dinner music was 70s and 80s rock. Our server was very inexperienced or at least it seemed that way. She took our dinner order and we had to remind her that we wanted drinks, if we hadn’t we would’ve only had water. We waited over 30 minutes for our charcuterie board, even though I asked for the olives to be removed. They were still on the plate. Our dinners arrived, with us having only 8 to 9 minutes to enjoy the charcuterie board. Which had three really good cheeses and the meats were salami and pepperoni with a couple of blackberries, maybe six grapes, and one strawberry that had been sliced into fourths. We had only gone through half of the charcuterie board when our plates arrived. To make room for the plates, the charcuterie board was removed, not giving us a chance to finish what we wanted from the board. We each ordered different steaks for our entrées. They looked as if they were the same cut of steak. We both ordered our steaks well done. Both steaks were still seeping blood on the inside. We were never offered additional drinks. The hostess made eye contact with me at one point after checking on another table. She approachedand asked if things were going well. I informed her of the undercooked steak. She did offer to have my steak redone or cook another steak. I declined those offers. Hubby ate around the interior raw part of his, leaving a large part uneaten. My steak was removed from the bill. I did not ask for that. We had complete plans to have dessert, but decided that was enough evening for this dinner. We did drive to another restaurant to have dessert. Sadly, the dessert was the best part of the dinner.

Had dinner on a Friday night. Street parking available. Receptionist seemed overwhelmed apparently by walk-ins. 15 min late seating per reservation after arriving 15 minutes early. No big problem. Seated in back of dining room. Moderate noise due to nearby speaker playing music. Our server was excellent. Bartender unprofessional. she actually, walked to our dining room table with the drink in her hand.to challenge why I sent the brown looking vodka martini back. See said something like "What, you don't like vermouth in your martini? Me: Yes dry not sweet. She: Yes it is sweet vermouth, we don't have dry. Any decent bar and bartender would have known this and not sent out a martini with sweet vermouth. Save that for a Manhattan. Food overall notthing special: I didn't like spices used on trout. Green beans done haphazardly. She: Her salmon was good, but risotto was more like a mac n cheese than risotto. A bit overpriced but only claimed "fine dining" action in town it appears.

The kitchen had some troubles. Courses missing some ingredients and some substitutions. Plates which had all of the fixings were very nice. Didn’t expect to see problems on a Friday night. The savior was the service staff in making accommodations for kichen. All in all it was a nice experience with good food, great service and comfortable setting.
