   We had a lovely dinner at Octopus Baja last night. I'm really impressed at the transformation from a kind of dirty chain sandwich shop into an elegant space. Huge shoutout to whomever did the design- the space is well lit, with a color and design scheme that reflects the theme of the menu. We had oysters and the Baja Camarones Crostini for appetizers- oysters were fresh and tasty, and the shrimp had just the right amount of heat. Entrees were good portions- the Birria Short Ribs were excellent and I have enough left over for lunch today. Presentation was really nice for all dishes. This has earned a spot in our restaurant rotation- 100% will dine here again.

   Perfectly wonderful. Food was very good, nicely seasoned and not overly spicy. Sat at the bar and enjoyed every minute, eating, drinking watching our bartender craft drinks far more complex than ours. Loved meeting Fransisco, who treated us like family. We’ll be back, this week.

   Did the Dine Downtown prefixed menu and I felt like they should’ve offered less courses and more food. They gave one tiny oyster or a baby shrimp and half toast for appetizer. The clam chowder was good, but they only gave half a bowl. How cheap can you be to only serve half a tiny bowl? The miso salmon had a great sauce but the texture was like the frozen ones you get at Costco and it was microwaved. The Dulce De Leche dessert was good, but they required you to split it with your guest. Some people have certain allergies and don’t want to split a dessert. Overall, I honestly think they should’ve chosen to not participate in the Dine downtown experience, because other restaurants were still able to deliver a solid meal for the fixed price. The service was great. The cocktails were delicious and aesthetically pleasing. The severs were all very friendly and efficient. I’m hoping their regular menu does not skimp on quality, but I’m reluctant to come back to find out.

   Came here for dinner for 5 of us and have to wait additional 20 minutes on top of our reservation. The wait staff was friendly, but they did a lot of reach over from one end of the table to the other and we have to passing out food, NOT professional at all. Food was subpar. I would not recommend this place.

   Overall a decent experience with good service. However, the salmon was overcooked and underseasoned and the mushrooms were borderline inedible with a flavorless sauce, nonsensical combination with seaweed salad, and undercooked/poorly cooked mushrooms and potatoes. Mushrooms have such immense potential but they need to be cooked better than that. Good elote soup though!

   We went for dine downtown and had a great experience! We actually were a little early (had a reservation for 4:30pm) and they said typically dine downtown menu didn’t start until 5pm but they let us order anyway! Everything we had was delicious; the oyster shooter, Mexican street corn soup and clam chowder, the salmon and street tacos and the brown butter cake w/pistachio ice cream! Definitely will be back.

   Friendly service, but very rushed through Dine Downtown menu at 8 pm reservation. Food was good but not great (snapper was covered in microgreens, which made it difficult to find the small bones). Drinks were good. Restaurant was very cold (temp) inside and loud. Decor and lighting was nice.

    We went for Dine Downtown. We were seated right away with accommodations for a wheelchair. Server was knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. Food was so fresh, delicious, and unique to Octopus Baja. Great addition to the Sacramento dining experience.
