   3rd visit to NoMI, 1st time for CRW. With cocktails ~$25, $30 Brunch is a steal. Skip the Avocado Toast. Fried Chicken & French Toast was a terrific combo. We requested window seating upon check-in and were ready to wait at the bar. We were advised that most window-seated patrons began their experience a few minutes earlier, and open/empty window tables were allocated for other guests. We accepted their rationale and sat at our designated table. Oddly enough, after 15-20 minutes of our seating, we noticed window-seated patrons (2-4 tables) checking out. Guests with a later reservation were originally allotted tables in our section. They requested window seating upon noticing the empty tables and got it, good for them. However, our experience lasted about an hour (we were willing to spend more time) and ended on a sour note.

   I brought my boyfriend in for a surprise birthday dinner, and everyone treated us so well! We were seated in a private nook, looking out at the Water Tower. The food was phenomenal and timely. The dessert with candles was a special touch. We will certainly be back.

   NoMI is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Chicago. My experience is always refined (the setting, the food, the service) - every single time.

   NoMi was a big disappointment for us. While the server was outstanding, the food was just mediocre. For starters, I had the pear salad which was OK - the squash addition had very little taste and seemed more like a starchy filler than anything else. My wife had the sunchoke soup which was quite good. For our entrees, I had the braised king trumpet mushrooms. This dish was loaded with butter and very salty - couldn't even taste the mushroom. The mushroom bits were scattered on a very runny polenta. My wife had the halibut which was disappointingly dry and lumpy- she ate only half of the dish. For dessert we shared the Kabocha tart which was quite interesting in taste- this was the best part of the meal.

    This is the second time we've been to NoMi; first time as each other's fiancé. The restaurant is incredibly accommodating and always makes you at home. From the warm atmosphere, to the unbeatable view and comforting staff, not many restaurants make you feel the way NoMi does - and that doesn’t even include the food. I noted on our reservation it was both our anniversary and that we'd prefer to hear about non-alcoholic drink options. Upon our arrival, the host both wised us a happy anniversary and assured us our NA preference would be accommodated. I had the 12 oz. ribeye; my date had a rice bowl. Considering NoMi ins't actually a steakhouse, my steak was beyond excellent - maybe top-3 I've had in my life of traveling and steak-loving. My soon-to-be wife also loved her dinner. You also can't go wrong with any of their dessert options either - they offer a lot of ice cream, which is awesome! We can't wait to come back again. NoMi will always be a place we visit on special occasions.
