Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: David Hawksworth

From the OpenTable editors: From the acclaimed Hawksworth Group, Nightingale spins Neapolitan-style woodfired pizza in a former university club with soaring ceilings. The expansive menu also dives into seasonal salads, fresh pastas, and epic proteins, so it's no wonder that Vancouver Magazine dubbed it the best restaurant for any occasion—whether you want to party with a 100-layer lasagna or 24-oz prime striploin.

Philosophy

Celebrating the here and now, Nightingale delivers compelling flavours and local ingredients through vibrant seasonal vegetables, organic salads, Neapolitan-style pizzas, pastas, and inventive proteins. Designed for sharing, the dishes contribute to the laid-back, convivial atmosphere of the industrial-chic space.

I have been before and had a great experience. However, tonight we took a friend out for her birthday and had a disappointing experience. Due to food allergies, the only thing on the menu that the birthday girl could eat was green salad and fries . The kitchen wpuld not modify anything on the menu. In this day and age, how is this an acceptable business practice? Needless to say, we only stayed for a drink and did not eat here but this left us scrambling to find a place to celebrate her birthday. So very disappointing.

The menu is not flexible / designed with guests who have a food allergies in mind. I only had very few options to choose from, and none of them a main course. The portions were extremely small. The taste of the food was very good, and well presented. The cocktail was watery and unremarkable. Overall, I couldn’t enjoy the full experience, due to these limitations. I’m sure for someone without allergies, would be an excellent pick, but if you are GF/DF/EF, better skip.

Can’t rave enough about our dinner out tonight. It was happy hour and we made the most of the great deal. Fried chicken … beet crunch salad… pizza. All so so good. Can’t wait to come back. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and kind.

Nightingale has one of the most extensive menus for a high end restaurant. Every dish we tried was better than most other places, but the Brussel sprouts and stuffed pasta were the standouts. The fried chicken is always popular as well. Perfect place for vegetarians since they have a plethora of unique vegetable dishes that won’t bore the taste buds. My only note is that the restaurant can be very loud- a table of 4 was seated next to us and we’re so noisy we could barely hear each other (table of 3). I’d recommend Nightingale to anyone visiting Vancouver who likes delicious food and doesn’t mind a bit of a higher price point. Our lunch for 3 was $160 including 3 non-alcoholic drinks but excluding tip; it was $365 for our friend group of 4 for dinner with alcohol but no tip.
