Since the opening of their acclaimed Restaurant Nicholas in 2000, Chef Nicholas Harary and his wife, Melissa, modernized the concept of fine dining. This mainstay of Red Bank garnered some of the industry’s highest praise, including 15 straight years as Zagat’s highest-rated restaurant in New Jersey, a 4-star review in the New York Times, and a position on several national “best restaurant” lists.

Now, with Barrel & Roost, the couple strips off the white tablecloths and serves up a bold new menu: made-from-scratch food that’s crazy-delicious, yet entirely accessible any night of the week. Set in a newly redesigned modern farmhouse interior, Barrel & Roost is just the place to enjoy Chef Driven Comfort Food with family, old friends, or a grab a drink at the bar for date night!

Liked everything except the noise level… I had to lean across the table to hear what was being said… not a fun way to have a conversation over lunch.

Service was excellent. Noise level was high you couldn't have a conversation. Music was too loud and not dinner music

Had the seasonal white Christmas drink and it quickly became a new favorite of mine! Beet salad , chicken Provencal, crispy halibut, mac and cheese and omg those cookies are the best cookies I’ve ever had! Truly love this restaurant 💜

Would actually rate a 4.5*, but there is no option for it. Decorated beautifully for Christmas. We had drinks at the bar prior to dinner. The bar maid was very good. Nice personality, attentive and made a great Negroni. Food would have been 5*. No substitutions allowed, so we had to order sides instead and then waste the food you didn’t want included. Halibut & Bok choy was delicious minus the smoked sauce. The sauce overpowered the delicate dish, unfortunately, and will ask for it on the side next time. Friends Enjoyed the sword fish and oysters. Banana split (enough to share) was also delicious and creative. Also, $7 for bread with dinner is a turnoff.

Food was good, slightly expensive for what you get. There was a hair in the butter for our ricotta appetizer but overall was a solid experience.
