Our menu represents Chef Michael's Blackie’s best food memories, which span over his 35 plus international career Chef worked in Asia, Latin America and is an expat from the UK.
His food style can best be described as a balance between Canadian roots with a strong influence in both Asian, Latin and European cuisines.
We are currently open for Dinner weekly 7 days week from 5 to 9 pm. We are known for our blind tasting menu that features 8 dishes shared between minimum of 2 people. We are also open for Sunday Brunch from 10am to 1 pm and offer a sharing 5 course - 10 dish brunch tasting menu.
NeXT opened in 2009 and is consistently in the top drawer of established restaurants in the Ottawa / Gatineau region. NeXT has been awarded many accolades over these past 11 years.

Sunday brunch is a pleasant, relaxed and hospitable way to enjoy friends and family members. It features a tasting menu that presents a variety of interesting taste sensations, attentive but not obsequious wait staff and if you are lucky a visit from the Chef himself. Mr. Personality.

We had an excellent meal,food was outstanding,but what made the evening was remarkable was the fact that the owner/head chef waited on us.His attention to detail and knowledge of the dishes set our experience over the top.

If you’re from Ottawa and you like good food then you’ve heard of Next. We’d never had the opportunity to eat there and chose to finally do it for our 36th wedding anniversary. It did not disappoint. As with most restaurants these days, the menu is not extensive but the options at NEXT cover a wide range of tastes and preferences and the dishes we chose were all excellent. Really creative inventive combinations of flavours and also visually well presented. Of note, the bao bun and Kapow cauliflower appetizers were memorable as were the rib-eye and short rib curry mains - amazing! Decor is pleasant and contemporary and service is solid and attentive. Barb was our server and she was excellent. We asked for her recommendations and she provided thoughtful guidance and suggestions and helped make our night a success. All in all, NEXT was everything we hoped for on our special night and we will definitely be back!

Dishes are not cheap, but food is good. It's a sharable format where dishes are placed in the middle and you serve yourself. Food was not that hot. I'm not sure why. The waiter was not helpful when asked about food quantity in order to determine how many dishes a couple should order. Anyway, a good "special occasion" / higher price point restaurant.

Chef Blackie presented a delicious Easter brunch, and was so thoughtful when it came to also taking care of our 3 and 4 year old. The cauliflower and eggs benny were among my favourites but everything was delicious. Would recommend for future holidays/celebrations and will be back!

The food was delicious and the service was great. However the restaurant has a cold feel to it, visually, I think it's the white tiles that throw off the feel, but physically, it was quite cold, to the extent that I didn't want to stay for dessert because I was uncomfortable.
