   For a high end restaurant this establishment fell extremely short. The hostess who greeted us, did not tell us the kitchen was backed up nor did she invite us to have a drink at the bar while we waited- and we waited over 25 min to be seated after having a reservation made over a week prior. Once we were seated the table was missing silverware and wine glasses- to which the waitress mentioned that she didn’t have any clean forks! Waitress was also the bar tender- but we were seated in the dining area. She was pulled in way too many directions to spend any time with customers given she was always mixing drinks. Once we ordered the food was delivered by a different staff member- who was extremely rude and made flippant off handed comments when we mentioned how busy our original waitress was. The food was slow to come out and it was lackluster for the price. No one checked on us after food was delivered. No water or wine was refilled by staff. A different server cleared our plates, never offered dessert. Overall a disappointing experience for how highly recommended this place came. Stay away until they retrain their staff!

   My husband and I truly enjoy dining at Montrio. The food is exceptional, and our experiences have always been outstanding. We had the pleasure of meeting Charlie, the general manager, who is both personable and attentive. His willingness to engage and listen made our visit even more memorable. We highly recommend Montrio to anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience.

   My wife and I spent our New Years Eve by dining at Montrio and the waiter and food were outstanding! The waiter (unfortunately I forgot his name) but he was awesome as he made suggestions and they were spot on plus he was just very attentive and personable. The food was just fabulous as my wife had the pork chop and we both agreed it was the best we've ever had! We started with the french onion soup and again this was one of the best we've had as we would come back just for the soup!! This restaurant would have gotten 5 stars from us if not for the beginning. Parking was very hard to find as the city had closed a bunch of streets for their New Years festival and all the nearby parking lots and streets were taken and so I dropped my wife off and it took me about 20 minutes to find parking and walk over to the restaurant. The guy at the front would not seat my wife because he said that it was their policy to only seat when all members of the party were present. I know many have this policy and I get it when it's a large party but my wife was left standing at the front with a bott;e of wine and her purse and she asked to be seated given that I was looking for parking and it was just the 2 of us! They made her wait and stand right by the door entrance!! 20 minutes is a long time to stand and wait and the reason they gave for not seating her is because of "service times and levels would suffer"??? HUH? If someone is just sitting at the table why would this affect service levels? It's also not like I would stand up my wife by dropping her off and then not proceed to show up!! Another lady was also in the same situation and my wife heard her ask the front guy if she could be seated since her husband was trying to find parking and that her leg was bothering her and they told her the same thing! At some point common sense just has to take over and if this weren't a special occasion we probably would have just left. But again after we were seated everything else was great!

   We reserved to sit outside but left without ordering when they could not get the heaters to work. We didn't want to sit in the cold December air.

   Wonderful French onion soup, then your fabulous sea scallops, plus a surprise birthday candle in ice cream. We had a great splurge.

   We were wowed by Montrio! It was one of our most memorable meals we’ve had a long time. The chef turned out every dish perfectly cooked and well presented. The short ribs were meaty and succulent. The Ceasar salad was excellent and had a twist: wood-smoked bacon. The Alaska halibut was paired with clams in a flavorful sauce. All dishes were great. The service - the manager and our waiter Brigette were incredibly attentive, likable, but never intrusive. The place hummed with quiet efficiency and professionalism. Can’t wait to comeback when we visit Monterey area again. Go!

   Our experience was great across the board. The service was impeccable. The food was great My husband and I had Alaskan halibut with an herbed risotto. The fish was cooked perfectly which can be tricky with halibut. The risotto was good, well seasoned though not quite what I expect in a risotto. My daughter had a garlic herbed roasted Jidorii chicken which was also perfectly cooked and served over buttery gnocchi. The noise level was moderate. The vibe was convivial.Check it out.

   Excellent bar, fabulous food, and the menu is almost entirely gluten free! Only 2 or 3 items cannot be GF. We love Montrio!

    An excellent meal with good service. Not for the budget minded but these days.... a full meal but didn't feel heavy or stuffed. Highly recommended.
