Unfortunately this was one of the worst dining of experiences Ive ever had and undoubtedly my worst in Philadelphia. Our server was kind and helpful but there was nothing that would salvage the quality of the food. Simple items were both burnt and cold as well as overcooked and dry. Several items including the shrimp kebab and pita were inedible. It was disappointing and honestly just confusing how bad this was. The drinks were acceptable but certainly not good. The listed ingredients were not the items we saw being added to our drinks. (We sat at the bar for a while as we waited for our table.) The babaghanoush tasted unlike any Ive ever had before, the hummus was flavorless, the shrimp was dry and also sweet, the filet kebab was salty, the village salad had a bizarre ratio of ingredients. The zuchinni chips were reasonable but overpriced given simplicity of item and portion size. I felt compelled to leave a review because I hope other people won’t have to experience this disappointment.

Food was good but wasn’t wowed like everyone raved about when it first opened. Didn’t feel like the cost matched the quality. Drinks were delicious. We were sat in a lounge corner and it was a bit awkward to eat at. Would’ve been a good spot for drinks and apps but I’m not sure about dinner. Would go back for something more casual!

I’ve been twice and the food was great, however the service was terrible both times.

After a recent trip to Greece, the positive article in the Philadelphia Inquirer led us to celebrate our anniversary there last night. One star for two reasons: Olivia's service; and the interior design, well-executed. The extremely disappointing part: 1) the vibe is young, with mildly throbbing music (not authentic to the cuisine) and much more casual than the article suggests; 2) we asked for a quiet table and were led to a table in the back between two other tables near the kitchen. I declined and brought to a moer suitable window table (note: there are approx. ten inches between tables); 3) drinks acceptable but a short pour; 4) the food was, simply, awful. The hummus and the tzatziki sauce were flavorless and thin. Food runners did not seem to know how or where to place dishes. The lobster pappardelle was so spicy it was inedible and devoid of lobster. We didn't expect it to meet Santorini's quality, but it was unacceptable by any standards. The best part was that the portion was very small. The vegetable moussaka does not in any way mirror its meated counterpart or its menu description- a platter, not a crock, of sliced/diced veggies (chick peas unrecognizable) covered with a thick layer of (commercial?) bechamel. First time leaving an entreee without asking for a takeaway box. Got the check and said nothing - it seemed pointless. Does Mona hope to be a dining destination? In the food service business for four decades, we know that survival in a highly competitive industry depends on the hipster disco-awaiting crowd who come for the vibe and beverages, or a complete reworking of the kitchen. I expect any reply to express disappointment, blah, blah. Never have I left a review of this nature, disturbingly honest. I wish for success for all and hoped for a great Mediterranean meal. Mona needs to make its mind up as to what it wants to be in this business. For us, it struck out in its first at bat, sadly.

I really enjoyed our dinner at Mona! Compared to other Mediterranean like Almyra, Mona offers a better value and I think the food was better. I really enjoyed all of the cocktails! Our waiter Mitchell was knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great recommendations on drink and dessert pairings. We only ordered apps and ate small plate style so didn’t have some of the issues others mentioned with food coming out from the kitchen out of order, the only issue we have was the food runners not bringing the required utensils for certain food items, however understanding this is a new restaurant and they are still ironing out their kinks and work flow. Will definitely be back!

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner. The service was excellent. It was a first class environment. We tried many things on the menu and everything was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The place is huge and designed for Instagram photos. The food was decent and I enjoyed the whole fish, but for the mezze appetizer sampler, there wasn’t enough pita or veggies to use for dipping. The dining room was very dark also. Hard to read menu or see food.

More of a club than a place for dinner. Food was so-so while service was super slow.

This place is a huge disappointment, it’s one of those places that can’t decide if it’s an entertainment venue or a restaurant. The food we got was either frozen, cold, or over cooked. Excluding the grilled octopus which was the only dish that appeared to be cooked in house. The cocktails were ok but not memorable. While the service was good Mona is all hype that they don’t live up to.
