Since Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink first opened in the Miami Design District in spring of 2007, diners have come to embrace and crave its refreshing combination of laid-back atmosphere and seriously good food, a neighborhood bistro that is the ultimate showcase for the type of cuisine that chef/owner Michael Schwartz does best – homemade, unpretentious, delectable, with an emphasis on great local ingredients. Bon Appétit Magazine wrote in 2022 "Michael's Genuine is refreshingly approachable yet upscale, offering guests a true neighborhood gem where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy simple, consistently delicious dishes." In 2022 and 2023, the first Florida MICHELIN Guide honored the restaurant with a Bib Gourmand awards.

    Always a good time. Portions of short rib in the brunch entre were quite minimal. Otherwise we enjoyed.

    Great experience overall but the food and the service were the standouts. A little on the pricier side but other than that, really enjoyed our dinner experience. Will definitely be back.

    We have been going to Michael’s since it opened years ago and it’s always been great. Very consistent food quality and preparation. The service was a bit off on the timing of the food being brought to the table. We were two couples and they served the entree to one couple while the other couple (us) were still enjoying their appetizer. Apologies were made, but it did put a damper on a pricey meal.

    Very disappointed- we found a piece of glass in our salad. Mentioned to the manager but regardless of this incident value was not worth it.
