From the OpenTable editors: The LA Times once called Peter Merriman “the aloha Alice Waters” because of the chef’s lasting reputation for championing local ingredients. At Merriman's, which first opened on the Big Island in 1988, that translates to updated Hawaiian classics like macadamia-crusted mahi mahi and taro falafel. The group blazed trails across four islands by 2018, and the latest Honolulu location stands out for its wild green-and-white floors and jungle prints.

The garlic shrimp appetizer was really good. The steak fritters was excellent and the chocolate purse was an interesting twist on dessert.

Dining at Merrimans was my first time and the food was good but the waithelp was exceptional! He was excellent in providing us with his knowledge of the food and for making this birthday a very memorable one! Kudos to the waiter!
