   My party had a great time at Melvyn’s, specifically enjoying the classy way we were treated. Some may call it old school, when so few establishments get the basics right, not us! Things started on a good foot with a warm welcome and offer to enjoy the bar while my party gathered. We happily moved seating for another party but the bar and serving staff took note of this and checked that we weren’t put out (we weren’t). The menu was quite traditional and what we’d expected. The waiter was fun and had his schtick down pat. Everyone loved their food - even me, the only vegan in the steakhouse! My colleagues ordered Bananas Foster and enjoyed the table side preparation. It was a glimpse back to professional service. And the management, well they sent us over a round of martinis just to make sure we really didn’t mind being to move up the bar. That was an extra touch of class.

   Magnificent martini, wedge salad was actually pretty filling on its own and the steak Diane was all that was hyped up to be. Wonderful table side presentation and cooked to perfection. Our side dish of Brussels Sprouts was way over seasoned, only could eat a few as the strong flavor took away from the rest of the meal.

   Melvyn’s was perfect. Tables were spaced to allow privacy and intimacy. Food was delivered hot and perfect. The waitstaff was attentive, yet not disturbing. The ambiance was just the same as when we were there every time in the past. Perfection!

   The ambiance was great and the noise level ok for a group of 6 to engage in conversation. The waiter was friendly and helpful, though less so after we were done ordering and seemed bothered by any requests. The food was good enough but wasn't anything spectacular that warranted the price point. I think it's probably a fun spot to hang out for drinks. Overall I was underwhelmed by it.

   Food was overpriced and didn’t meet expectations. The deviled eggs and wedge salad were great but the waiter recommended beef Wellington for $78 tasted bland and the halibut cheeks for $70 were overcooked, dry and tasted like previously frozen food.

    The restaurant and bar itself is gorgeous and the staff is lovely. The food was subpar - two of our 4 entrees had to be sent back to the kitchen and the remaining, while edible, were not good at all. Considering the bill for our group of 4 was $800, one would expect the food to be of that caliber.
