The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both comforting and exotic—an ideal setting for enjoying a meal steeped in tradition. The menu at this Afghan gem offers a variety of dishes that showcase the incredible diversity of Afghan cuisine. From aromatic, spiced rice dishes to perfectly seasoned kebabs, every bite is packed with depth and flavor. Don’t miss the **mantu**, Afghan dumplings filled with spiced meat and served with a tangy yogurt sauce, a true highlight on the menu. One standout feature of this restaurant is its use of fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the perfect balance of spices. You can taste the care and attention to detail in every dish. The **bolani**, a stuffed flatbread, is crispy on the outside with savory fillings, making it a perfect starter or side dish. The **kebabs**—whether chicken, lamb, or beef—are chargrilled to perfection, smoky, juicy, and bursting with flavor. What sets this place apart is not just the food, but the genuine hospitality. This was my very first time trying Afghan cuisine & let me just begin by saying, if you haven’t tried it YOU ARE MISSING OUT & here’s WHY; 1. Mazadar means delicious or tasty and I reckon the owner has been very thoughtful when choosing the name because the food is SO SO DELICIOUS! 2. Absolutely a hidden gem located in the Queen St East neighbourhood. 3. The place is HUGE! & the staff is super inviting! Special mention to Faiza, Srijan & Jeevan for their amazing service & being super friendly! I love a place when the staff actually welcomes you with so much warmth. 4. Now let’s talk about the food! The food was absolutely FIRE! We ordered pretty much their best sellers which are the Eggplant Banjaan, Chicken Kebab Plate & Lamb Chops. I don’t even know where to begin! I never liked eggplants my whole life but when Farid (the owner of Mazadar) assured that this is the BEST eggplant I would have ever tried, OH BOY! He was SO RIGHT! Super flavourful & so creamy, like who knew eggplants would taste so yummy? AS for the Chicken Kebab Plate, the chicken was cooked to perfection and super tender + it came with rice and salad. The portions are huge!! & the highlight was the Lamb Chops - these were grilled to perfection! I could literally eat this everyday! 5. I can’t believe I didn’t discover this place earlier! Highly recommend visiting this place!! 6. Trust me, you won’t regret!! :)

They offer authentic Afghan cuisine in a family-friendly setting. The decoration is very cute, featuring wall frames with pictures from around Afghanistan and handmade Afghan women's costumes. The staff are friendly and welcoming. For appetizer, we ordered “Banjaan”, “Fish Bites” and “Cavalo Nero Salad”. Banjaan was a great combination of eggplants, tomato sauce and yogurt, offering great taste and texture. For main, we ordered “Lamb Chops Plate”, “Sultani Kebab”, “Chaplee Kebab” and “Qabli Rice”. The Lamb Chops was sizzling when served which was very exciting. And the meat was perfectly seasoned, juicy and tender. The yoghurt sauce served with Sultani kebab was a great dipping sauce and added more flavour to it. Qabli Rice was great combination of carrots and raisins and white rice; giving it great texture and aroma. There’s Green P street parking available on Queen Street.

I found the restaurant very casual, and the food was great. Our waitress was attentive and chatty, she made us feel welcome. The walls were decorated with Afghan dresses, and the washroom was decorated in Afghan'y art. Very authentic, and a nice change from the norm. We had a window seat which allowed for some people watching on Queen St. I didn't research well enough, as they don't have a liquor licence.

Visited for the first time for Thanksgiving and boy did I make the right choice coming here. The best Afghan food I’ve ever had and I’ve had plenty of Afghani food. Highly recommend!
