Too bad. The food quality has fallen off dramatically. We had half shell - good. The focaccia was acceptable but not remarkable. Drinks were good. However, they provided a cucumber juice shot with a lemon oil float. The shot was heavily salted and two of our three diners would not finish it. We order a salad to split amongst the tree of us. That was nice. The salad greens were fresh but again the dressing was too salty. Again, not finished by two of us. We ordered the salmon - the best dish on the three. Another ordered the risotto. watery with too much salt. I had the duck. It was cooked well but the sauce was tasteless and made the dish bland. The vegetables were overcooked. Limp. We ordered the chocolate dessert. The caramel was again, over salted. In general, we were disappointed. I guess we will frequent the many other venues downtown until we hear that it has improved.

Service took forever and all 4 dishes were inedible. The risotto was just mushy white rice. The duck “cannelloni” was unseasoned duck wrapped in what seemed to be corn tortillas, covered in tasteless cheese. Everything, and I do mean everything, was so bad we could not eat it. Server did not check on us or refill our water. When we asked for more water a second time, we were told we should expect long waits because of the gem & mineral show. If you decide to come here, order drinks and absolutely nothing else.

Maynard's has been, and continues to be our favorite "destination" restaurant, particularly for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, "date night", etc. It has a nice, relatively quiet ambiance, with the added "bonus" of watching the trains go past. The food is always gourmet, and the service first class.
