   Everything was lovely minus my wife sending back the steak twice because it was blue. They said medium rare, but I could have made carpaccio with it.

   We were so excited to try this place for our first Valentine’s Day. We traveled all the way from Houston to celebrate. I had made a red weeks ago and all the reviews were positive. They have a preset menu for Valentine’s Day which was $100 per person. That understandable for such holiday. We got there a little before our reservation was and were seated quickly. The service was great and the staff was so nice and attentive BUT the food was not. Firstly we ordered drinks from the valentines menu which were extremely strong. The best part of the whole 4 course meal was dessert. We ordered the charcuterie board for the first course. The pairings were nice. For our second we choose the Caesar Salad. This was alright. The salad was dry and we had some not so good looking pieces of romaine. Our next course was our main. We chose the filet and quail. The filet was nice but the quail….hard pass. It was so hard to cut and was extremely chewy. I was so disappointed and at that point ready to leave. We didn’t even bother eating it. My fiancé chose the red snapper and lobster ravioli. That was delicious and we ended up both eating from his plate. Lastly was the dessert. Our favorite. We chose one of each of the offerings both were amazing. The totaled almost $300 for both of us. For that price everything should have been absolutely excellent and this place did not achieve that. This is our first and last time visiting this place.

   I’ve been to Maverick on prior occasions, the food is always the star. The Valentine’s Day menu was the draw for this reservation, but the actual food was average at best. It seemed some of the food was pre-prepared. We will likely return, but it will need to be on an evening where the attention from the kitchen is placed on the food served.

   The food was not great so small for the price there so many better restaurants in San Antonio it was not a great experience the Chef needs to learn how to cook duck properly fat wasn't renderd the my steak was not cooked right medium rare not steak tartar plus they charged there graduity me and my wife where so disappointed. Plus you have to pay to park in the parking lot.

   Unfortunately, this was the worst $200 meal experience my wife and I have ever had. Our reservation wasn’t ready at 730, so we were seated at a high-top multi person table (for like 14… there was only 2 of us). They moved us to a table by 815 or so. Our food came out an hour+ after order. Both entrees were disappointing: the seafood pasta and the 1/2 chicken. Waitress was good… likely dealing with the challenges of food being slow. Long wait for more water & wine. Overall just really poor experience. We historically have LOVED Maverick and come for special occasions. We don’t plan to return after this last experience. $200 to have a poor experience is just disappointing. Sorry to say Maverick….

   Had a wonderful waiter who was very energetic and happy to be working there. The restaurant was not loud so we could have a conversation easily. They also have different themed rooms so next time I think we would like to dine in the Palm Room or the Cave. All the food we had was excellent and the presentation was wonderful. We are planning our next visit soon

   Nice atmosphere though each of our dishes were a little bit off. My entree and dessert were just e few minutes overcooked and my wife’s duck breast, while tasty, could have been rendered a bit more. A little bit of truffle tends to go a long way, but the truffled gnocchi went a bit too long. As a result, dishes that could have been excellent just didn’t reach that level. Service was fine.
