   The host staff was excellent, both friendly and personable. The food was very good. We had to wait a little bit at first because it was busy but once waiter came, the food service was fast and steady. Would recommend.

   The pizza oven broke and they didn’t mention it when we sat down. The food was so-so. Not a great experience.

   We were completely underwhelmed by the service tonight. The waiter came to take our order but didn’t notice we didn’t have menus. He left the menus and finally came back for drink orders. We ordered a bottle of wine which he delivered by dropping on the table in a wine chilled. I guess the wine is self serve here. We ordered our apps and dinner with no problems but the waiter rarely checked on our table and we had to wave him down to get water, drink refills and our check. The restaurant wasn’t that busy. The food is fine but the service needs work.

   We have eaten at or ordered out from Matchbox many times, both in Rockville and Bethesda. Generally we have had very good experiences there. This time, however, I ordered the ribeye steak, which was the most expensive item on the menu, and was quite disappointed. The cut of meat I received was stringy and fatty, and even in today's environment when steaks have gotten more expensive, it was not worth the price. I'd stick to items like the baby back ribs, butternut squash salad, or pizza, all of which I've had multiple times on other occasions and found very satisfactory.

   The server was kind, didn’t rush us, and even joked around a bit. The street corn app and fried chicken sandwich were sooo good. Will definitely come back again for brunch!

   Food (including specifically the sliders and half chicken) was decent. The big issue was that our server basically disappeared for the rest of the meal after the entrees arrived. We were there celebrating a big birthday. The server brought a scoop of ice cream with a candle, but entrees had still not been cleared and we were never asked if we wanted dessert, which we would have ordered. Service started out fine but once the entrees arrived, that was it.

    Great food. The atmosphere was great for connecting with friends, one of which we hadn’t seen for 44 years. Excellent service as well. As far as the volume, it was mainly us. Sorry about that!
