   We have been to this mastros a half dozen times and my wife will only eat steak well done. It’s an easy thing to do butterfly and hit internal temp of 170. Yes overcooked for most but it’s how she likes it and it’s easy to do especially for a trained chef. Hell I’m not trained and I can do it relatively well. She sent it back because it was still pink In the middle. It came back it was a burnt lump of coal. She ended up eating it but let our server know that it was burnt to a crisp and said she was sorry. The Manager offered to comp us a desert for the trouble but we had to leave for a Play and could not accept. We will be back in 3 weeks for my son’s graduation dinner. Hopefully we will get a chef that knows his craft a little better than the one running the grill tonight.

   Overall a nice dinner, but not as stellar as prior dining experiences there. Hosts are pretentious. We despised where we were sat. It was in a dark corner up against a tile wall that felt confining & cheapened the experience, quite honestly. Our server was kind & attentive, but there seemed to be a lack of communication between her & the assistant waiters. It took a good 10 minutes for her to come over to our table after we were sat to take our drink order. We ordered bottled water for the table & then shortly after, the assistant waiter came over to ask again if we wanted water for the table. We also noticed that they now charge for the bread basket. I don't remember that from previous visits, but it is what it is. Also, the restroom attendant was basically a warm body in there. Typically they usually hand you a towel to dry your hands, but this time everything was self service. I asked her for lotion and she just placed it on the counter in front of me, when normal etiquette is to squirt some into your hand so you don't have to touch the pump with freshly washed hands. Suffice to say, I did not feel compelled to leave gratuity for the less than stellar service. I think they should just get rid of the attendants and have the hostesses rotate & replenish the toiletries. Otherwise, remove the tip jar if the attendants aren't even going to offer you personal service. Now on to the good. The portions for salads and sides is huge. We could have honestly split our salad and we ended up taking our macaroni & cheese home as the dish is very rich, thus you can only eat a few bites to reach satiety. The Caesar salad was just ok. The steaks were of course phenomenal, as always. The butter cake also did not disappoint, but it was huge! The two of us could only eat 1/2 of it. All in all, we enjoy Mastro's but will probably stick with the Newport Beach location for the better ambience and not having to hike up a bunch of stairs in heels to use the restroom.

   We usually sit at the bar so we can order when we are ready, the bar wait staff are excellent, we can also enjoy the entertainment. It’s our once a week Friday night date. We always leave saying what a great evening.

   It was our first time there celebrating our wedding anniversary. Customer service was excellent. And our food was not disappointing. We will be back.

   The food was really good and the drinks were flowing in the sides are good as well overall 10/10 would always come back

   As expected, the service was excellent. Unfortunately, the 12 oz filet I ordered was not tender, possibly because it was overcooked. I did ask for medium plus but I've never had a filet at Mastro's that was so difficult to cut. It wasn't just dry, because I like a dry steak. The quality of the filet was just poor and not worth the cost, which was $360 for 2 of us. I didn't object at the time because we were already late for our show at the South Coast Repertory. Very disappointing.
