Sungchul Shim, chef and owner of the Michelin star restaurant Kochi opens his second Michelin star restaurant Mari in Hell's Kitchen. At Mari (roll in Korean), Sung offers a tasting menu of street-food inspired Korean hand rolls, complemented by an extensive wine list and a selection of Korean spirits like soju and chungju.

Mari is offering a $145 per person seasonal tasting menu (along with a beverage pairing for $110) that explores the many facets of Korean cuisine through small plates and inventive hand rolls.

Due to the nature of our tasting menu, we are unable to accommodate vegetarian/vegan diets, gluten-free diets (if soy is not okay to consume), rice-free diets, allergies to fish, allium, sesame seeds/oil, and aversion to raw seafood. If you have any questions regarding food restrictions, please contact us before making a reservation.

    Food, as expected, was amazing. Servers were professional and nice. Only downside was how long it took for the course meal to start. We had a 5:30 resv (we got there early and was seated at 5:25) and didn’t get our first amuse bouche until 6:20. The appetizers also took a while to come, though by the time you get to the Mari dishes it’s better paced. It took us almost 2.5 hrs to finish the meal (which is more on the longer side for course meals) and at the end they told us that people were waiting for our table… believe me i wanted to eat faster too! I just didn’t have the food. All in all, I would still come back for the food as they are fantastic. But the course pacing may need a little more work.

    Had a great evening at Mari! The tasting menu was super fun and creative, and the team here is very attentive- thank you Matthew for taking excellent care of us! He’s an amazing bartender and made the best espresso martini I've ever had—smooth, bold, and just the right amount of sweetness. Only regret was not saving enough room for dessert. The donuts here are so yum.

    I felt like the current winter tasting menu erred on the overly savory side, and when the format is always hand rolls, it can be really one-note after awhile. Presentation and quality clearly was there in every single dish, but as a whole experience it lacked flavor variety. I did have to remind the staff of a dietary restriction for one of the courses, but they remediated it quickly without question. Everyone was super friendly and attentive, space is really cool, and I’d love to give it a shot again.

    Amazing experience. On the expensive side but you’d know that going in. Food was top notch and the service was excellent. You’d feel just as comfortable dressing fancy as you would in jeans and a sweater.

    My son and I enjoyed sitting at the counter in front of The Chef and he was very pleasant and obviously very proud of his menu. Rightfully so! Service was impeccable and food was just amazing! We love this restaurant and we keep coming back every time we are in NYC
