   The food was ok, nothing special. I ordered the meatloaf, collard greens and baked potato. Vegetables were good but the meatloaf was meh. The servers were pleasant. We really liked our waiter Xavier. I’m giving the restaurant a poor score due to the actions and attitude of the hostess. I had a reservation for 6:30pm. They called to confirm during my working hours so I was unable to answer. The voicemail left was to confirm the reservation and please call back if I want to change or cancel it. So I didn’t call back. Upon my arrival @ 6:30 the hostess says “did you get my messages?” I confirmed I had but apologized for not returning them. She goes on to tell us that they pushed our reservation back and she advised that in the message. I advised her that she had not. She was dismissive and said they would seat us when they were able. I stood there for 20 minutes as multiple other people with reservations were immediately seated. Finally another employee asked my name and time of reservation. I mentioned the hostess attitude and we were seated within minutes. Once I got home I looked at my email and had a confirmation of the reservation being changed, however it was sent 15 minutes AFTER I had checked in. They comped our appetizer for the “miscommunication.”

   Been coming here since the opened. Food and service are always excellent. Breakfast, lunch and dinner options are great

   My husband and I took my dad to Mama’s for Valentine’s, and our meal was great! They can fix a lot of things on the menu GLUTEN FREE, so I splurged and had GF chicken fried steak with GF cream gravy! YUM!!! Hubby had liver and onions, which was great, and my dad had chopped steak. He said it was one of the best he’s ever had, which was a huge compliment from my dad! THANK YOU, MAMA’s for accommodating GF customers!!! San Antonio still lags far behind other cities in this area, so it’s nice to have a good options, especially in Southern home cooking, which is rarely GF.

   Had a reservation... waited under 5 minutes to get seated. Good service and wonderful food. Quick. In and out in 1 hrs. 10 minutes!

   Mama's is one of my favorites for comfort food, excellent drinks and delicious desserts. Last night, February 8, was so warm we were able to eat outside, where it's quiet, and sometimes we see birds splashing in the birdbath. I had my favorite dish there, the pork schnitzel, and my husband had pollo rojo. The meatloaf, pot roast and many others are also wonderful. I've never had a bad meal there. Mama's takes reservations, which is unusual for a casual restaurant. It lives up to Cappy’s reputation.

   Excellent service. The half-price Tuesday Liver and Onions Special was a large portion, tasty and well worth the price.

   We loved having the patio all to ourselves. Service was outstanding and the food was great. We will be back soon. TY, Mama’s, for being part of our neighborhood.

    Our dishes were excellent: although on the schnitzel plate the spaetzle was a very greasy; catch of the day with veggies was delicious ; meatloaf tremendous! Mama’s is very clean and inviting. We dine there about once a month. We have had better service in the past. Our waitress was OK but not as accommodating and friendly service as in prior visits. We WILL be returning. Quality food.
