   I have a dairy allergy and told the waiter at least three times. I ordered the spaghetti marinara with grilled chicken. As i was eating the meal I thought I smelled Parmesan cheese and the sauce stuck to my fork as if there was cheese in the dish. I called over the waiter and questioned him. He said he told the kitchen about the dairy allergy and he would take it back. He returned and said he wasn’t sure - one cook said no dairy the other one said it had cheese. The waiter said that the cooks began to argue in Spanish, so he couldn’t understand them. Very shortly afterwards, he returned with a very quickly and sloppily put together dish. it smelled and looked different as if it did not have dairy in it. The waiter never sent a management person over and we were sitting on the patio, so I’m not even sure who is in charge. The waiter asked if I wanted a dessert even though I did not eat anymore of the pasta because I was worried. He offered me flourless chocolate cake because he was sure that there wasn’t dairy in it. I told him that I have never seen a flourless cake cake that did not have dairy in it because it does not have flour in it. I was anxious to get out of there and we were brought the bill which showed the full amount of the food. I did get sick that evening. I really think the manager or owner should train the staff, both in the kitchen and on the floor, about allergies before somebody gets really sick or dies. There are many excellent Italian restaurants in the area. In my experience, Trattoria Romano takes my allergy seriously so I will continue to dine there

   From the moment we walked in the staff was very welcoming. Once seated we were presented with a variety of breads, bruschetta, fried zucchini, and Parmesan cut from a wheel. Henry, our primary server was warm, witty, and gracious. When we said we were sharing our two entrees he offered to have them split and plated for us individually. A nice touch. The food, service, and atmosphere were all exactly what you would expect from this well-known establishment.

    Julio and all the waiters and managers are simply incredibly professional and so thoughtful. The red snapper I ordered was sensational ( perfectly cooked). The caesar salad was not so great and I'm not sure why it wasn't't excellent. It tasted a bit odd? I recommend going to Il Mulino and try to get there early. By 7pm it's very noisy. The wines by the glass I eat were expensive. I can't wait to have their fish again! Marcia
