Opening in 2006, Liv’s Oyster Bar and Restaurant quickly became a dining destination in Old Saybrook. Inspired by his daughter, Olivia, and years of experience in the restaurant industry, owner John Brescio set out with a desire to welcome the community to his family’s table.

Dining at Liv’s, whether in the main room, at the bar, or on the patio, is an experience to be savored with friends and family long after summer on the shoreline has past.
John Brescio also serves as Liv’s Executive Chef, creating simple, focused dishes with an emphasis on local ingredients, and the stunning seafood that the area provides. The menu at Liv’s changes with the seasons, bringing guests a true taste of the pristine environment. John works closely with Liv’s partners to make sure only the best produce is used, as he would serve nothing less to his family.

Wonderful as always. From the oysters to the duck breast with gnocchi and bok choy. Amazing. They never disappoint. Our server was awesome. He took the time to explain certain item to my friend who is gluten free. He made excellent suggestions. Just a great experience overall

I've dined at Liv's more than once, and again last night, it was terrific! From the warm greeting by our hostess, to the delicious food - my sister-in-law and I each had the scallops, which were in a very flavorful sauce with light and silky fettucine, along with a pot au creme to finish (can't go wrong with chocolate and coconut!) - to the interesting and fun conversation had with Brian, the bar manager who was doing some serving, we had a lovely experience!

Liv’s oyster bar Is always very good. We come for years. The menu changes continuously, which is nice. They always have a surprise with a new dish. Great atmosphere. The drinks are also very good.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Liv’s. The food was delicious & everyone was welcoming & attentive. We loved our server Natasha who was superb with recommendations and customer service.

This is our go-to place to dine before events at The Kate or the Side Door Jazz Club, and it never disappoints. Sits in an older elegant building on Main St in Old Saybrook, has a lovely feel, unfailingly good food and impeccable service. The menu changes seasonally and is always interesting. We dined there with friends,; started with some wine (solid but not enormous wine list) and some empanadas and calamari. The entrees, all great, included the Moroccan Cod, duck fried rice, and short ribs. All yummy! We finished with coffee and chocolate créme du pot, delicious, and coffee, and then off to the show with time to spare. All good!

Celebrated our daughter’s birthday at Liv’s, and as usual they hit it out of the park! Our table was ready at the right time, and we were lucky enough to have Jake as our server. He was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and candid about his recommendations. The food was, as always superb. We are still talking about the duck fried rice - a “must have” if you eat here. The Moroccan Spiced Cod was also awesome, as well as the salmon. We have been here multiple times, and we have yet to have a bad meal. Already looking forward to our next visit!
