Located in the historic district, Lewes Oyster House honors the rich heritage of ubiquitous and democratic oyster consumption in 18th and 19th century Middle Atlantic taverns and oyster houses. We serve inspired tavern fare, expertly prepared with fresh, regionally-sourced ingredients along with crisp lagers, interesting wines, and artisanal cocktails. All that, and a whole lot of love.

Please join us for lunch Tuesdays through Saturdays in the Tap Room, Oyster Bar or Main Bar. We do not accept reservations for lunch.

Walk-ins for dinner are always welcome first-come first-served at the Oyster and Main bar areas, all evening long beginning at 5 p.m.

Online reservations for dinner are VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for the Walsh Room and Tap Room.

I am failing to understahd all of the hype around this place. Oysters are oysters and yes, they were fresh, but we ate here on "pasta night" and were less than impressed with the pasta dishes. Oue server told us all of the pasta was made in house. I ordered the Braciole with pasta. The beef roles were dry and uninteresting. The Bolognese style sauce was pretty good, but the braciole was served over spaghetti and I was hoping for something a little less simple. (Guess I should have asked what the "pasta" was.) My mother ordered the luinguini and clams. The pasta was a bit undercooked (pre al dente) and while there were whole clams in the dish, they were not meaty and there were bits of shell in the broth. Both of these dishes were very pricey for the portion size and lack of any addiitiions. To be fair, maybe one shouldn't trust an "oyster house" for Italian food, but our server did promote the pasta night. Our service by the way was just okay. We didn't see our server enough and there were noticeable gaps between courses. Dessert took a LONG time to come. Dessert btw was the one bright spot -- the Boardwalk Empire was quite good. Overall, I wanted to try this place because of the hype and oddly enough, my sister should have warned me because she had already taken my mom there and she had the same impression.

The oyster appetizer was a little bland. Unfortunately the octopus was overcooked and a little rubbery/chewy. Both dinners were very good

Sorry to hear we missed the mark on the two appetizers. Glad to know that you enjoyed your dinners though. It would be happy to address anything you find substandard on a future visit. Thanks for your feedback. Cheers, LOH

One of the best meals my husband and I have had in Lewes. Every single dish was outstanding. We had a half dozen oysters on the half shell, crab imperial stuffed oysters, lobster tortellini, mussels and boardwalk fries, chicken and dumplings, beef tartare and smoked oysters, the fig and apple salad, and my husband had the ribeye. Every single plate was delicious, I think we ate every bite. The wine was lovely, the ice cream was so good! The service was excellent, our server was lovely and she timed all of our plates perfectly. So impressed and will definitely be back!
