   The other online reviews are mixed and so are my feelings after visiting Le French for dinner. I arrived at the restaurant much earlier than I anticipated and the restaurant was very nice about accommodating my early arrival. I offered to sit at the bar but they made sure I had a nice table. The service was mixed. The first server wasn’t happy and made it clear, but the young woman helping and running food was very nice and helpful. I started with Escargot, which was wonderful. The snails were perfectly cooked and tender in that beautiful traditional buttery garlicky sauce. It’s so easy to over cook snails but Le French cooked theirs beautifully. I had a new dish for me - Senegalese Pastel & NDambe. They were similar to an empanada. The pastry was light, fluffy with a crisp exterior. The stuffing, based on NDambe, was full of flavor. If this is Senegalese food, I want to try more. I highly recommend people try them. Then the main. I had been craving duck served outside of Asian cuisine. I was so disappointed. The duck was badly cooked and so very tough, perhaps badly overcooked. The fat was not rendered either, which was not good. I was actually not strong enough to cut through the meat. I asked the unhappy first server, if they had a sharper knife to help cut the meat. She quickly informed me that I had the sharpest knife that they had in the kitchen. Really? I managed to eat about 1/3 of the meat and finally gave up. I decided to leave with the pleasant memory of the escargot and the Pastel & NDambe and find something else to eat at home. In summary, very mixed evening. Some very good and some very bad. I won’t be back, but I will tell people it’s worth trying once for the Senegalese, maybe they will correct their other issues.

   This was a phenomenal experience from start to finish. As someone who has worked in restaurants from NYC to the Bay Area I have to commend the exceptional service from the friendly hostess to the delightful AGM (Emilia ?) who waited on my family and I- she was amazing! Their version of an Oxtail pastry was so flavorful. The escargot was yummy and the mussels were so juicy and flavorful; my entire family was impressed by the quality of the food for Mother’s Day! I have to add that their roasted potatoes were literally perfect, as was their sauce bearnaise , Perfect. Their wine list does not disappoint, with something for everyone, including the discerning palate, with humble offerings and beyond.The crepes Suzette were phenomenal and the flambé presentation, inspired! Overall, this place was a delight and my family and I will return again. Thank you for making our Morhers day just perfect!

   Front desk could not find our reservation and then told us they were fully booked so she’d see what she could do. I had the reservation confirmation and had called in earlier to check. She managed to seat us about 20 minutes later. Food was good but not what I would expect for the price. Appetizers were better than the main meal by far. Drinks were great and wait staff was great.

   The food was good. The service was decent but extremely slow. What should have been a dinner for 8 for about 1.5-2 hours was 3 hours long. Not sure if they purposely want people to savor the moment or not. The dinner menu does say at the bottom that they have the right to move you along after 90 minutes if they need to.

   In spite of an anti-foie gras protest going on outside (with which we agree, however we are at the restaurant anyway) and a notable understaffed situation, we felt well taken care of. One server was working multiple areas so things were a little Slow but she was as attentive as she could have been. Food was great.

    Service was slow. Not enough servers. Some drinks were overpriced. Protests outside restaurant were disturbing.
