Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Chef Rob Feenie

From the OpenTable editors: This French fine-dining icon has dazzled Vancouverites since 1983. Legendary chef Michel Jacob passed the torch to his friend and Iron Chef America winner Rob Feenie in 2024, and Feenie still celebrates the restaurant's French origins while incorporating some of his West Coast roots. Expect Dover sole deboned tableside in an herb beurre blanc, steak tartare, and other classics served in an elegant white tablecloth dining room.

Dining at Le Crocodile reminds me of lunches in the South of France. The salads, the duck confit and the desserts are outstanding.

Loved the food and experience. Service was very nice and friendly. To me, the place would elevate guests experience if there was live music. It was pretty noisy to chat. And there’s no view or no intriguing interior design to look at.

After decades of going, we are sorry that two of our favourite things- foie gras brûlée and shoe string potatoes from the old Le Crocodile - are no longer on the menu. Of 3 things, french onion soup, crab pasta and wagyu beef burger with foie gras , only the burger impressed. The crab was overly fishy, the soup a bit too greasy. The restaurant is lovely but needs some softening - blinds/curtains. The street view isn’t pretty.

Food was nothing special. The blue fin tuna was good but then you can get that from Japanese restaurant. Service was not personable. And I can’t believe they need to charge bread?? Certainly not going back.

We looked forward to celebrating our anniversary with an amazing meal with wine pairings. This was our first time to Le Crocodile since the change in ownership. Overall the expereince was good, but did not wow us. Food was prepared well and wine was okay. I was surprised how fish/seafood dominate the meal was. I ordered the veal as my main, and that was the only land protein on the menu. My wife had the sable fish, so no land based protien for her. Service was excellent, but the food was not memorable enough to cause me to rush back.

Food was good (really enjoyed the smoked trout in the tasting menu) and service was excellent. We had a fun time out with friends. Can always count on Le Crocodile to provide the right atmosphere to entertain guests.
