   The food; the service and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. This was my first of what will be many future dinners at La Grande Boucherie.

   Beautiful decor & large restaurant. We sat upstairs which is more formal and architecturally cool than the bar seating downstairs. Very comfortable. Attentive service without being overbearing. Escargot was traditional & very good with excellent baguette. Oysters were pricy even for oysters but nice choice of east and west coast. Wagyu burger was delicious and the frites with it were perfect. The duck confit was very good but the breast that came with it was chewy and too rare (I did ask for medium rare but good duck would cut like butter. This did not.) and the breast portion was small. Couldn’t pick up on the “orange sauce” that supposedly was on the duck. The real downside of this dish, however, was the bean and veggie accompaniment. It was cold and undercooked and just left me unsatisfied with the whole dish.

   $500+ dinner for two should be pretty darn perfect. Absinthe cocktails absolutely delicious. Oysters and cheese board were pretty good. Chateaubriand (med. rare that came out about 30 minutes after we were done with appetizers) was not evenly cooked throughout and a bit overdone. Accompanying bone marrow was decent, mashed potatoes were a total throw-away. Had to remind waiter that we'd ordered a bottle of wine. Pretty decent food overall and great looking space, but at this price point you can do way better in Chicago.

   This was a wonderful experience. We came for our anniversary and had the asparagus salad and chateaubriand platter for 2. It was plentiful and delicious!! We had the crème brûlée and chocolate mousse for dessert and they were also outstanding (on the house, courtesy of the restaurant). Really really pleased with the kindness of the service on top of everything else!

   Great experience, ambience and service. My only constructive comment was that the nicoise salad is way too small for the price point.

   This was my sixth visit, and the chef continues to impress every time. I’ve tried most of the menu by now, but tonight I went with the bone-in ribeye—and it was cooked to absolute perfection. It paired beautifully with the Napa Cab they serve by the glass from Long Meadow Ranch. I’ll definitely be back again soon.

   The profiteroles were great. Go elsewhere for escargot, steak and duck. Beautiful space with a screaming sound level on a Monday.
