Kō, which translates to sugarcane in Hawaiian, is inspired by the sugarcane plantation era, a time when people from around the world came to the Hawaiian Islands to work in the sugarcane fields. The plantation workers brought recipes and cooking techniques from home, while utilizing the ingredients available to them in the islands. This culinary evolution eventually developed into what is now considered modern Hawaiian cuisine.

In 2012, Kō's concept was brought to life by the esteemed Chef Tylun Pang. Chef Pang passionately led and developed Kō into a cultural melting pot that best represents Hawaiian-style cuisine. The expansive menu features island family recipes that have been passed down for generations - including Hawaiian, Chinese, Filipino, Portuguese, Korean, and Japanese favorites.

    One of our favorite places to eat! Food and drink always good. The service is what sets this place apart from all others. Our server Serena was kind and attentive. we’ve had dinner and Sunday brunch here and they both are must do’s. The Kamaaina discount makes it so worth it.

    Nice service. Food portion large and prices reasonable especially compared to neighboring restaurants. Third time to eat there and valet parking lost car twice.

    Dinner at Ko was a very relaxed and wonderful experience. There was plenty of room between the tables and it had a very tropical open feeling. The food was outstanding. One of the pluses was that they had several vegan choices on the menu and the dish I had was delicious. The drinks were much better than average, and the service was exceptional.

    Zeb was our server he did great and took good care of us. Amazing food and drinks!!! Bussers was on it and very friendly. Especially james for making our mother’s day dinner very memorable!

    We booked for mother’s Day brunch, it booked for 99.00 each. We arrived and was told it was 129.00 per person. The website link show a lobster Mothers Day brunch. Well the website was out dated and it was from last year. Prime rib was served , Korean BBQ Ribs and some other meats . All on the cold side. Not even slightly warm. The desserts were nice and the server was nice . Manager honored the 99.00 price.

    We made reservations for Mother’s Day brunch which was outstanding in food quality and selections, presentation and service. Ryan was our server and stopped by our table often to ask if we needed anything else. When we made the reservation on OpenTable, the price was $99 per person, but the bill reflected $129. Apparently there was a glitch in the OpenTable app that failed to distinguish between the regular brunch price of $99 and the $129 Mother’s Day price. Anyway, Ko honored the lower price which made us happy. We were staying in Kihei and it was our first time being at the Fairmont - the entrance is stunning.
