   The smell of the kitchen and the grease fills the restaurant - red to improve the ventilation. While the food continues to be good, the decor is quite dated and could stand a major update (beyond a fresh coat of paint). Still, we go to Joey‘s quite often as it’s always Dependable in mostly consistent.

   Service was very good. Food and drinks were delivered very quickly. Unfortunately, the food could have been better. Oysters were chewy, prime rib was tough and salmon was overdone.

   A former colleague, and dear friend, Susan, texted me and asked if I wanted to go to Joey D's for dinner. Well... YES! It was a belated Birthday celebration as I turned 137 on the 10th. But we look for any reason to go out and it's always a hoot. Christmas revelry was in full force as the place was packed for our 6PM reservation. That said I was seated immediately waiting for her to arrive, by none other than Kaylee herself, and got my request for a table at the far end of the room. That's my favorite place to sit as you can see the entire room, watch the team work, and have a front on view of that wonderful backlit bar. Drinks were ordered, a martini for her and Prosecco for me, a rundown of specials, and upon our servers return we ordered. Susan had a garlic NY Strip. Ordered rare with a side Caesar and a loaded spud. ( I like saying spud ). The steak was delivered as ordered. Susan commented that there was ample garlic butter that makes this steak wonderful. I had the Caesar entrée salad with chicken. As you know this is among my favorite Caesar salads in the city and it came overdressed ( my term ) in that wonderful Caesar dressing and plenty of grated cheese. There was not a morsel left when I finished. Cannot remember my server's name but she did a great job stopping by to check on our drinks and food throughout the evening. It's good to see familiar faces in the front of the house. Amancho, one of my favorites, was delivering food to a nearby table and said hello, as did Drew the Assistant GM. I come here often and aside from my typical seating request I feel as though I am not at all a pretentious diner here, but it's nice to know that they appreciate my patronage. Business here is good and the team well-oiled. Kudos to the management! A birthday piece of cheesecake to go, And another wonderful evening at one of my very favorite places in the books. Oh .... cheesecake-sofa-sweatpants is the way to go if not eating in the restaurant!

   Above avg casual dining. Nice holiday vibe. Char oysters (ok), beef Patty melt (good), French dip (abv avg). Service was good. Overall an enjoyable evening

   My coworkers and I decided to have a Christmas dinner at Joey D’s. It was fabulous- the food was amazing and the service was excellent! We’re planning to get together there once a month.

   Food was good, ambience was good. Service was meh. Had 2 servers for some reason. Yet I still went 0-2 on drinks. Ordered a Diet Coke upon arrival, never came. When food arrived, ordered a beer, never came. Oh well, their absentmindedness saved me a few dollars and calories.

   I frequent Joey D's about once a week. always have an amazing experience in every way! this was the first time I had an issue in which my fish was served undercooked and it was very noticeable. But in classic Joey D fashion, they did not hesitate to replace it with another meal of my choice and removed the fish charge from our bill! In Joey D we Trust!

   Totally disappointing experience. I ordered chopped steak and when it arrived I failed to notice it was basically a piece of charcoal crust. I bit into it and still taste burnt hours later. Other steaks at the table were also over cooked. Replacement chopped steak still partially burned. I won’t go back anytime soon.

   It was surprising to me how many things they couldn’t provide from their menu. We started out ordering a nice bottle of Chardonnay and was told they did not have that. Went to order the Reuben sandwich and was told that they didn’t have that either. So we ordered the French dip and apparently they were out of the au jue so brought of a bowl of French onion soup instead to replace that. Someone clearly dropped the ball on the ordering of food and spirits. I will still go back, but it was a disappointing holiday dinner with friends.

    Been dining here for over 30 years - my father’s favorite. Went fo parents’ 57th anniversary. Positives: 1. very attentive servers: Cookie and Sebastian were personable, warm, helpful, attentive - they made the anniversary couple feel special 2. Food arrived quickly and all correct (with everyone’s modifications), including an extra plate for split dinner 3. Very nice dessert for the anniversary couple (they could choose instead of the kitchen sending out whatever) Needs Improvement: We had a 7:00 reservation, but weren’t seated until 7:45 (with profuse apologies) - difficult wait for 80+ year old guests of honor Food: For the most part, everyone enjoyed their meals. There was a minor complaint about some bitter onions (burnt?) with the chopped steak, but everyone left over-full and happy. I personally felt my ribeye was “ok,” but in fairness, I am an extremely picky eater, so it’s not a fair assessment. The fries were excellent!
