We had dined at Jack Rose on another trip prior to this one. At the time of reservations, we didn’t realize there was a Galentine’s event, which was fine either way. It wasn’t until 3 days prior to my reservation we learned there was a $75 prefix menu. I assumed there would be a variety of choices on the menu, so I didn’t give it much thought. Upon entering the restaurant we were met with hospitality and bubbles. I was heavily upset to see the menu, requiring all attendees to pay $75, not including the drinks, and it only offered fish/shellfish. Two members of our party cannot have fish or shellfish. I asked about accommodations, and they said the chef would fix something else. Our waitress offered mushroom ragu, a vegan option. To require patrons to pay that amount of money for the selections, which were subpar, was heavily disappointing. We all felt “ripped off”. The “event” took away the standard restaurant experience. And because of it, we will not be returning on future trips to Jack Rose.

The only reason I did not give this restaurant five stars is because it is so very, very noisy. We were there on a Thursday. The food is wonderful especially the beef cheeks appetizer. The staff are great, the manager checked in on us at some point. But, the noise got to the point where my partner and I stopped even trying to talk to each other because we didn’t want to have to shout. We will go back but maybe we will try to go on a night with less people.

I just cannot say enough amazing things about this place. We were running late due to traffic on the bridge- The restaurant said, no problem. We were seated and without even eating the food, I just knew I was already making another reservation in the future. We asked our waiter for suggestions based upon our conversation and just everything hit beautifully. We started with the cinnamon roll and the calas followed by the shrimp and grits, crab omelette and the mushroom quiche (which was way better than any traditional quiche). Next time bringing more friends to indulge in the disco punch. Thank you Jack Rose for an incredible brunch ❤️🌹
