   We dined at Isla Blue for Christmas dinner as we were staying at the resort. Made a reservation, was told it was going to be a prix fixe menu for $125 a person but the menu looked good and the reviews were good so why not. Reservation was for 7:15 and we were seated about 7:10…restaurant was pretty full at this point. Took a little time to get drinks, no big deal, busy and we weren’t in a hurry. Ordered the meal, soup/salad, appetizer, meal, dessert. Soup finally came for me but they were out of soup spoons, a giant serving spoon was brought. I opted for a dessert spoon. Soup was good and I was starving at this point as it was almost 8. Appetizers didn’t arrive until about 8:30 and the oysters that I ordered were the tiniest oysters I’ve ever seen. They had also run out of the topper that was advertised. Honestly, they were inedible. Our poor waitress was a victim to the kitchen or the overbooking and was trying her best, there just wasn’t food coming out of the kitchen. At close to 9:00 I started looking for a manager about the food. She went to look and never came back. I found another manager because at this point I felt like I was being held hostage. They finally brought food out and the lobster was completely charred on the bottom of the shell so much so that there was black all over the plate and the lobster was not cooked or edible. My husband’s filet was not cooked at the correct temperature and looked to be about 4 oz…like they were running out and cutting in half to fill the orders. I sent the lobster back. Needless to say we skipped dessert and I fortunately had a protein bar in my room to tide me over since it was nearly 9:30 and the bar stopped serving food at 9. Oh and they automatically added 20% gratuity to the bill…20% and it was not stated on the menu or told to us. I just noticed it. Terribly expensive mistake in my opinion and I never leave reviews like this.

   Rough start to a Christmas prix fix dinner, as no server greeted us within 10 minutes, but once we were in touch with our server, things went great! Food was outstanding, albeit a bit long of a pause between courses. Things are tough these days in the service industry, as many of us are aware. I give them all credit for preserving through a busy evening fairly short-handed👍

   Food was very good until the entrees came out. Had the grilled lobster and all 4 were charred to the point where the shell was burned off and it had a burnt toast taste throughout. Pretty disappointed considering it was Christmas dinner and daughter couldn’t even eat her meal.

   If not using $35 valet, parking is limited to a dirt parking area that, after it rains, becomes mud. I stepped out my car into a mud puddle and ruined my shoes. Once seated, it got a bit better. The place is very pretty and open to the beach. Then disappointment…the food was boring and not worth the money. Refills of drinks were slow. No bread basket offered. Service took used utensils after 1st course and did not replace them at 2nd course. Had to hunt them down. Power and fans went out and nobody did anything to fix it until I said something. Service took my son’s dinner plate before he was done eating. The bill was outrageous at the end and so not worth it. Never again.

   Everything from greeting, guidance for best food and beverage selections, ambiance, quality of meal, ocean view, music and more was stellar! And on Christmas Eve the staff was working so graciously. Thank you!

   Food was good. Service was appropriate but not warm and very by the book. Not overly accommodating. Prices were fair- and vibe atmosphere was best part about meal if you want a trendy feel. I have eaten here in years past and would have rated higher on prior occasion. Would skip next time and maybe try for a drink before dinner.

    Beautiful location and ambiance! Can't do much better. Hostess was super sweet! Sat down and ordered cocktails - they were excellent (superior martini and olives were perfect). Waiter was very helpful with our allergy situation and very accommodating. Despite that, menu said cashews and came with walnuts - yikes! After that, he was fair at best. Never checked in with us plus had to ask twice for ice. The food presentations were amazing! The food itself was fair. In the end, it was just short of expectation.
