Enchanting Nutcracker Tea Experience

Pasadena Civic Ballet presents an abridged, 1-hour Nutcracker Ballet with a cast of 40 performers in the Viennese Ballroom at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena. While enjoying a festive Holiday Tea, performers engage with guests and take keepsake photos during the event and includes a holiday sing-along with snowfall and a Christmas March taught to guests by Nutcracker characters. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Pasadena Civic Ballet Company scholarship fund. Date: November 30, 2024 Seatings: 11:00 AM, 2:30 PM, & 5:00 PM Adults $145 + tax & service charge. Fantastic, beautiful venue. Service was top notch! We asked why they didn't have an item this year on the buffet as they had in the past, and they went and made that special dish for my wife.

This is always a place my wife wanted to go for Mother’s Day brunch. We finally made it for this year. Such a disappointment!!! Every thing is OK. But with $180 per person, it’s totally not worth it. The food is Not that good for that money. It’s just a regular regular buffet. Service was good.

I had high expectations for this brunch. Over $200 per adult with tax and gratuity, I was expecting WOW. Employees were kind and quick to clear plates, fill glasses etc. The decor was a tad tacky. The band was pretty loud, and along with all of the people it made it hard to hear people at your table. Crab was difficult to eat, nothing to crack the claw with. Shrimp was good, but I had to scrape the bottom of the dish to get any cocktail sauce. Poke/ sushi station looked good. Prime rib was the highlight. Eggs, bacon, sausage, and omelette station was good. Omelettes looked a bit over done. Desserts were o.k. chocolat fountain seemed water down. The kids’ food looked really good.

We ate brunch at the Langham on Christmas Day in the ballroom. It was amazing—pricy—but amazing! The food was excellent and the ambiance was magical. The service was top-notch and the live music was tasteful and not so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation. We ate at the Hotel Del in Coronado last year and were so very disappointed with all of the above! I think we’ve found a new venue to celebrate special occasions!

Thanksgiving 2023! This is a HUGE ballroom…we are a bit older, so we reserved for 3:45 pm when the crazy was all behind us and the staff! This turned out to be a wise idea because our service was stupendous. There were six attendants all around our table for two. I was concerned the buffet offerings would be “old” at that hour. No way. Kitchen staff continued to run out with freshly made cornbread and chestnut stuffing, chipotle sweet potatoes (the best I’ve ever eaten and I had a mother who was a Southerner), turkeys, you name it. Every single dish was extremely high end…using fresh herbs and haute cuisine style recipes. I had to stop my fork from rising to my mouth. What made the atmosphere lovely was a three piece band in the center of the room: cello, piano, drums playing classics as well as some terrific jazz numbers. There was a dessert room and even a lower, kid height table of desserts for the little ones with chef made entrees like Mac ‘n cheese and chicken tenders (ah, the sacrilege!). It was arranged with little forest animals all about and so thoughtful. Yes, with parking and tip (included) and this lovely memorable dinner, it was $480. for two, but I would have easily spent $300 buying all the groceries… and I NEVER could have competed with the variety in fare and expertise of these chefs. Best Thanksgiving Dinner I’ve ever eaten. We’ll save up and definitely go back for another great Langham dinner. ❤️ Thanks to servers LoLo and co. and to Sean who took some awesome photos with my iPhone of my husband and me.
