A sushi bar and Japanese bistro. Inspired by the sushi bars in Tokyo. Himitsu introduces Japanese culture, design, and hospitality to San Diego.

Our 8 person sushi bar and 20 person patio is located in a discrete corner of La Jolla, a setting well suited to our name, which translate to "Secret" in Japanese.

Chef Mitsu Aihara presents a menu of traditional sushi and nigiri, along with Japanese style tapas using the high quality products and ingredients.

                  Himitsu never disappoints.. by far my favorite sushi spot for quality fish. Yesterday it was my first time sitting at the bar & it was an amazing experience being able to watch and talk with the chefs. The service was great and I can’t wait to return again.

                  We had a fantastic birthday dinner with my son. The fish is so fresh and everything tastes delicious. We liked that the sushi wasn’t over sauced and we could taste the uniqueness of each of the rolls. Koki, our server, was wonderful and very attentive. The rest of the team was happy and helpful. Thank you for a great experience. We look forward to our next visit.

                  Jessica, Mitsu, and the entire staff are the absolute best. I have not had a bad experience eating here. The food is incredible! I have eaten lots of high end sushi restaurants and Omakase, including their sister restaurant(Hidden)in Miami and Himistu is STILL my absolute favorite. The fish is so fresh, the way they prepare everything is very clean and everything we order tastes amazing! If you go make sure to order the scallop and perch nigiri! Those are my favorites! <3

                  Hands down my favorite sushi place in San Diego! My husband and I always go with the chef specials and recommendations and they are great every time! The host/hostess and servers are so friendly and inviting. They always remember us and take time to catch up. Himitsu is a must visit!
