   Server was extremely cold and rude. Felt like being in a cheap motel. The food was already prepared and was being clearly microwaved. Not expected from a hotel being advertised as a 4 star

   We had excellent food, sea bream and chicken, friendly and very service oriented staff. Unfortunately we got a Chinese couple next to us whose smacking, slurping and spitting of their starter was so loud and disgusting that we decided to leave earlier than planned … hope a better experience next time.

   We enjoyed sitting in this lovely space. We had a window seat looking onto the town and hills. The food was well prepared. We had a roast chicken dish and lamb. We didn't have dessert, but some nice choices.

   Mediocre food and mediocre service. Fillet steak requested medium rare was served well done, and when we informed the waiting staff we were met with a dismissive apology. Nothing was suggested to rectify the issue nor any refund on a main dish not eaten. Other main course ordered had items missing from that order. To add insult to injury, we were phoned by the staff on the way home to say that we’d underpaid although I confirmed the receipt in my hand stated the full amount of £115, also mentioning again the issue with the main meal. Give them their due a message was sent via the app to apologise for the error on the bill and that they’d relay our thoughts on the food to the management team, but over 24hrs and nothing further. Overall an extremely overpriced meal and underwhelming experience - suggest diners to give this place a wide berth.

   Really enjoyed our meal at Hillthwaite, we were welcomed the moment we walked in with all members of staff chatting with our kids and settling us in. Great food and the kids menu went down very well!
