   Starters were good but the risotto accompanying the chicken was slightly gritty and underseasoned. I did not complain as I was there for a friend's birthday.

   I love going to Headlam Hall. It's a unique, relaxing, old fashioned venue. The Christmas lunch was enjoyable, the food served was to a high standard. More brioche with the parfaiit would have been nice or less parfait. The Christmas pudding was oustanding. However I do feel there were a few missing details during the experience. When being asked to go through to the restaurant it would have been nice to have our drinks carried for us. There wasn't any Christmas crackers to pull on the table and we both thought there was mince pies with the tea and coffee mentioned on the original menu we saw not just a standard chocolate mint. While all team members were polite and happy to help I dont feel anyone went the extra mile to make us feel special. Did anyone wish us a Merry Christmas? Headlam Hall in my mind is the best hotel in the local area but needs to up its game slightly and not sit on its laurels. An enjoyable lunch not spoiled by my expected high standards of the venue.

   Very disapointed we were placed in a Bar not a dinning room. Not happy they allow dogs into the bar, as there were diners. I have no problem generally with dogs in the bar - just not with diners. This is the first time in our visits to the restaurant this has happened. However the food was excellant.

   A very enjoyable experience and meal. Lovely venue. Service was very good as the restaurant and bar were quiet. The food was presented beautifully and tasted divine.

   The staff at Headlam Hall were fabulous a d made my mothers Birthday Celebration very special and memorable. We had a fabulous afternoon
