Very understaffed, you could see the pressure on the servers, frantically trying to get meals out to the dining room. Our server was good when he was there, felt as though he was spread thin amongst a whole bunch of tables. 4-course Valentine’s Day pre-fixe menu. First course came out quick and was delicious. Weird, our entree came out next. Asked the server about the salad…that came out after we finished our entree, lol. Didn’t bother us too much, but then was waiting for our desert. That took about an hour. Never got offered another drink, so just had one beer for the entire evening. Lots and lots and lots of unhappy guests. When we left, you could see it on everyone’s face.

It was a beautiful tropical night, especially for the Valentine’s Day season. The food was decent. It did make us full at the end. The roast duck dish was the star! The Ahi sashimi appetizer with gooseberry jam, came in second with deliciousness. And both desserts of the Poha berry Panna cotta, and the chocolate soufflé, desserts were divine. Better on the entrées than others. We enjoyed the music from Ms. Keilana. Beautiful melodic voice! . As for the alcohol beverages, the beer was good, but I didn’t like the wine choices. Also, my husband was disappointed about his salad. It only was Romain lettuce. And that is not what he ordered as he thought. Oh and the scallops appetizers was a little undercooked. All in all we ate everything and we left full-filled. What helped the most was the funny waiter and his good service. We forgot his name, but whatever his name is did a great job. And of course, the beautiful scenery of the sun setting over Ānaehoʻomalu bay was gorgeous♥️🌹

We went for Valentine’s Day course meal. Great location and wonderful sunset. Excellent live music in the background. The food was all above average. For mains we had grilled kampachi and steak Oscar both of which were excellent. Service was friendly but poor. We were allocated 90 minutes for the seating. 10 minutes to get a drinks menu. 15 more minutes until the beer came. Then nothing for 30 minutes. At the 1 hour mark we got salads (2nd course). After asking 3 times for the appetizers, they finally came. Seared ahi and grilled scallops were nice. The entree came right on time but the dessert was left on the table when we were only halfway through. No coffee or tea offered as I’m sure the next seating was waiting. I hope they had a better experience. This was not a case of one bad waiter. There was a systemic problem with no individual responsible for our experience. We made the best of it but the whole experience was aggravating and took away from what could have been a truly memorable evening by the sea.

My wife and I are visiting Hawaii for our 50th anniversary celebration. We have had meals at Hawaii Calls restaurant many times during our two weeks stay. The food is delicious & the staff is excellent! Ryan Zimmerman, the Director of Restaurants is awesome! He always makes the effort to welcome us and makes us feel happy to be there. The Coffee Shop at the Marriott is also a friendly & welcoming place to have great food & coffee. Jim & Susie

The martini with freshly blue cheese stuffed olives was very good. The chicken breast entree was also very good. The waiter was very courteous and accommodating. The open air covered restaurant has a nice ambiance.

We are celebrating here and wanted a nice sunset dinner. We were so disappointed, to start it was just before sunset and we were seated in the back and was blocked for the sunset. When we went to order we were told it was taco Tuesday and the regular menus was not available. So we went ahead and ordered the fish taco’s they were horrible the fish was dry and tasteless and the tortilla was like eating cardboard. The worst meal we have had by far, Never would go back there. Dale

This is the main restaurant for the Marriott hotel and the Ocean Club of the Marriott Vacation Club location on the Big Island. The setting is lovely -outdoors at 645 pm with light ocean breeze and nice table and our group was two adult couples. The food and drinks were very good . Prices were high but fair considering this is a resort in Hawaii. The draft beers were a good value in the large size. They do have happy hour and early week specials on Mondays- Wednesdays

We have New Year Day dinner with our kids and grandkids (all 13 of us). It’s a beautiful restaurant, ambience and service were great. Food like all the restaurants we ate at in Kona Waikoloa and Hapuna area were not something to write home about. Menu is limited. Guess food in Big Island restaurants are just not great! We did have a great time overall!
