About this restaurant

  • Lively
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Hot spot
Just like the bohemian travelers who inspired our name, Gypsy Kitchen’s alluring flavors aren’t bound by borders. Instead, our chefs go wherever the inspiration takes them, crafting deeply creative dishes that transport you to uncharted places around the Mediterranean and beyond. A menu designed to taste and share gives guests the freedom to explore the menu at their own pace, connecting over seductive flavors, festive craft cocktails and curated regional wines.

The alluring interior matches the menu, with welcoming dining spaces that foster connections and spark conversation. Antique tapestries and rugs, twinkling lights and vibrantly patterned tile set the scene in the expansive dining room. Or, take a seat on the rooftop patio oasis, where lush greenery, plush cushions and the sky overhead evokes the feeling of being on a caravan to explore a distant land.

Music was incredibly loud and made it difficult to talk. Detracted from on otherwise good brunch.

Hi Liana. Thank you for joining us for brunch. We have a vibrant atmosphere, but it should never be too loud to enjoy conversation. We'll make sure to keep an ear out for the volume. Hopefully you'll join us again for a visit we're confident will be excellent in every way!

The restaurant has a good ambience. However, there are limited food choices. For a vegetarian, I could be a challenge. The prices, as expected, are higher side.
    Gypsy Kitchen - DCResponded today
Divaker, thank you for complimenting our ambiance. We love serving vegetarians and have many offerings that are well-suited for a meat-free diet. Next time in, please ask your server to also explain substitutions that can be made to give you even more options. We hope to serve you again soon.

Loved the ambiance and food. It’s a cute place. The service was terrible. We went for Mother’s Day brunch/ husbands birthday . We all finished our food my daughter was still waiting for syrup for her pancakes. Finally she got bit was so little we asked for more had to wait longer. Finally we paid and about to leave the server gave us one dessert and candle to take home when we were at the door because she forgot to bring. Which melted in our car home. That sums it.

I have walked by this place for years and thought, "Golly, I should try that place.". Then i never did, until today. Gypsy Kitchen: you won't find a better priced value and food quality in town for Sunday brunch. Now that Brookland's Finest is long gone, I thought it wasn't possible to find a brunch location you could actually get into and not lose your paycheck and still get good, rock solid food. This is that hidden Sunday brunch gem, and it's smack dab right in the middle of the hot 14th Street strip! It is terrific because our server was top notch, the food he recommended was superior to comparable in town here, and that upstairs outdoor deck on a gorgeous spring Sunday was not impossible to get a great table, nor was it pretentious. My friend had a Bloody Mary and the Spanish Benedict and she just loved the quality and healthy Putin of greens that evened it out. I had the kefte burger with insane tomato jam and wrote was it flavourful. Run, don't walk. Everything is closing in D.C. thanks to the massive lay offs at the U.S. govt. Don't let this great joint slip from our collective fingertips.

Hi Matthew. We're happy you and your friend joined us for a brunch and enjoyed your visit so much. Thank you for the kind endorsement. We hope you'll be back again someday soon!

The food was just ok. The grilled octopus was rubber. The table next to us sent theirs back. I think they are trying to do too much with the food, the hummus was drowned in balsamic. Service was good. Overall just an ok meal.

Stephanie, thank you for your visit and compliments on our service. I am sorry if any of the dishes you had weren't to your liking. I wish we had known so we could have made you new ones or brought others we're confident you would have enjoyed. Hopefully, we'll have the chance to serve you again soon so we can help you choose items you will love. Please let me know, and don't hesitate to ask for me next time so I can ensure you have an excellent dining experience. Tom Roche, General Manager

Sixth time coming, always great food and service. It’s such a great place for a larger group because you want to try everything, servers have always taken my questions about the menu to heart- never have I felt they were just trying to sell me something. Cocktails are also incredible, and our server let us taste a unique Greek wine that we ended up getting a bottle of. Once again, so much fun and so delicious
