   Food took over an hour to arrive. 8 of us, all eating different dishes. Whilst 4 dishes were good, 2 were appalling and the other 2 fair.

   We had not eaten at the George for quite some time. The welcome was warm and we were taken to our table.. We ordered some drinks which were delivered promptly. The printed menu plus the specials board offered a good selection of meals. We chose main course only. The food was delivered in good time and looked excellent. We enjoyed the main course and ordered from the pudding menu. Again, the food was delivered in good time. The cost was reasonable given that the George is not so much a pub that does food, but more a restaurant that also offers drinks.

   Iv rated this pub as outstanding as I believe for a "local village pub" , it is really pushing the standard with its food and service to be reckoning with some of the decent restaurants in clifton. We used to eat here alot and it went a bit downhill so left it until it changed hands. Well we are very glad to have returned twice in the last month now - it's definitely in my top 3 local pubs for food. That said it seems really popular with locals for just drinks especially when the sun is out there's a lovely courtyard garden. The service is so friendly and welcoming and the 2 Irish lads especially cant do enough to help. From adapting the menu for my fussy children to bringing drinks over to the table and bringing the children's food out 1st as they could see they were hungry. I had sesame salmon last time which was gorgeous and this time I had a duck and watermelon salad with crispy noodles, again gorgeous everything cooked really well and presented beautifully. Really up there in terms of the expected standard for pub grub. We will be back again soon, thankyou

   Very good food and excellent service. The George has a long history of being a very good Pub, but for some years has been poor. It has now been restored to an excellent vibrant Pub, with good food and a great atmosphere. Our first visit for food for some years, and it is wonderful to see the return of excellence. Well done to the two new owners, and thank you (they took over last summer).
